Searching for an Answer

I am a 32 year old male and over the past two years I have been experiencing problems when drinking and having sex. It seems like everythime I drink and have sex my urethra feels irritated and the tip of my penis is all red. It doesnt burn or anything like that, it just feels irritated.  It starts feeling better after I relieve myself and drink a lot of water. This has been very frustrating because I went through every test possible, including a cystoscope and CT scans and they found nothing wrong. I also was put on Leviquin 500 mg for a month. Can you give me any advice or help with this?

Thank you so much Dr. J Singh!  What else should I do to avoid passing acidic and concentrated urine?  Also is there any medication that helps this issue.

Hi,
You seem to be suffering from urethral syndrome. In this, the patient has classically the symptoms which you have described and all the tests come out to be normal. I’ll suggest avoiding the use of alcohol as it tend to worsen the symptoms and instead drink lots of fluids especially water. You should also increase the intake of fruits & salads. You need to avoid passing acidic and concentrated urine. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
