Severe discomfort in urethra, pain in prostate

Hello

About 6 years ago I started to have extreme discomfort, a feeling that I had to urinate very urgently, constantly and always felt like it would never finish.  Over a short period this got a lot worse until I had very acute pain in my abdomen, and a very hot burning sensation at the tip of my penis.  My doctor gave me anti-biotics and the severe burning went away (he diagnosed chlamydia) as did the pain all through my abdomen/lower back.

However the feeling that had been apparent before the really severe burning was still present, I felt like I could never finish urinating, it was like there was urine just staying inside the urethra near the tip and when I would try and stop it felt like I was going to urinate any second because of this feeling.  When I would sit or stand when not urinating, it would feel like there was 'sweating' within my urethra.  At this point I cannot remember for sure if there was any pain in my prostate, but I am feel strongly there wasn't any, I do just remember tensing it constantly because it felt like I was going to urinate at any moment.  By this point I was very depressed and drinking heavily and not seeking further medical assistance.  This went on for the next 5 years until I finally managed to get myself together and go back to a doctor.

Now my symptoms have changed, the exact same urethra feeling is there, but also my prostate hurts and sometimes feels its burning around there.  The feeling in the urethra is very distracting, and I scored 31 on the NIH prostatitis symptom checker.  A urologist gave an ultrasound of kidneys, DRE, and X-ray of abdomen, urine culture, tested for all std's and told me I'm fine, and now my GP doesn't think it's worth sending me to another urologist.  I am in severe discomfort though, greatly affecting my life and ability to concentrate on anything because the pain and discomfort is there from the moment I wake until I sleep.  Urethra feeling stays constant, prostate gets worse as the day goes on.

Hi,
Turp does not cure prostatitis. In 1994 nerve saving robotic  prostate removal did not exsist. A skilled surgeon using thre new latest methods can leave one with few side effects. Thankfully you did not get the surgery in 1994 to remove your prostate. Back then you would have been left impotent. turp has been shown to worsen prostatitis. Turp does not attack the core of the prostate where the illness is thought to fester.

Dr duke bahn who does antibotic steroid prostate injections http://www.pioa.org/bahn.html

Dr Arnon krongrad who is a top prostate surgon who is doing a FDA listed trial removing prostatitis prostate using Lrp. So far everyone in the study is cured.http://www.laprp.com/patients_speak_detail.php?aid=373&type=8&r=67&page=67

good luck

Hi,

I came down with prostatitis in 1994 at the age of 30 and had a TURP and resection of the bladderneck.
From than on I have had problems with prostatitis as well as other urological issues.
I'm glad that I was not aware of this surgery back than as I most likely would have opted for that. I used to get hospitalized with related problems for about every 3 to 4 times a year.
Had I had the option of the surgery, my wife and I would not have had our third daughter.

Currently I have found out that I have a neurogenic bladder as diagnosed in 1996. I also have a prostate to rectum fistula right now and am getting this glued on May 27 this year.

Should the procedure not hold, I will need major surgery to get this repaired as this can lead to serious infections. One thing that I dread is that I might end up with a colostomy to get this repaired. The procedure will take muscle from my leg to have that placed in between the rectum prostate and bladder. Potentially the outcome is not garrenteed. I have been wondering if it would just be easier and better to have my prostate removed thereby sealing the fistula. If you could give more information concerning Dr. Duke Bahn, I would like to give this information to my urologist. I'm located in  Canada.

Ron

you have prostatitis. Try googling prostate massage with antibotics. If no luck try proste injections from dr duke bahn in ventura ca. If no luck a vlast resort is prostate removal. Dr krongrad in miami has a clinical trial going on using lrp to remove prostates in men with prostatatitis. It seems to be the end all cure. Google prostatitis. Do research. Rem,ember most doctors are clueless about this problem. get many different opinions. i am not a doctor just a fellow dude with prostatitis.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Yes, your symptoms do seem consistent with a chronic pelvic pain syndrome. The negative findings on the part of your urologist is consistent with this also. There is no one definite treatment or drug that will cure you. This may require trying different drugs to relieve your symptoms. These chronic pain syndromes are difficult to treat and require a urologist with insight them.
It sounds as though you do need help; keep pushing!
