About two weeks ago my morning urine was bright red. I have had only one UTI previously, and with it the usual syptoms(blood in urine, pain, frequency) I was treated with a single dose of an antibotic (which I don't remember, but it turned my urine orange, but releived the pain). This time the symptom was only blood. I called the nurseline at my clinic and was told that they couldn't do anything since I didn't have any pain or sense of urgency. Two weeks later (3 days ago) I had another episode of blood in my morning urine (note: I did have intercourse the night before, but nothing agressive). Still no pain or urge to urininate. I called the nurseline again and I went in for a urinanalysis. The analysis showed "numerous" bacteria and red blood cells. The doctor prescribed Bactrim. Now, three days later, I still have blood in my urine episiodically ( i.e. my urine will be clear for 4-12 hours) . During these episodes, I am passing what looks like pieces of tissue or lining (1-1/14inch diameter). The passing of these clots does cause some pain around the urethra, and a need to urinate more frequently, but it lasts only for the episode. I called the nurseline again, there was nothing they could offer me as a reason why this is happening and basically said that I would need to see a urologist (it's Saturday). In addition to the Bactrim, I have been taking CranRich 500MG capules (twice daily) and lots and lots of water. Is any of this (particluarly the shedding of lining) in the realm of normal, since I probably had the infection two weeks or more before my diagnosis? Is it possible that the Bactrim/Cranrich is causing the infected bladder lining to shed? Should I be on another anitbiotic? (Additional info.) I am a 45 year old female. My periods are irregular and the day my symptoms began this week, I should have been due for my period.
Thanks for your help.
