I had a c-section 18 months ago. When he was about 6 months I started chilling, running fever of 103, sweating, and throwing up. I went to a dr and she said I had a UTI and put  me on antibiotics. 2 months later it happened again, went to dr, same result, happened 3 more times same symptoms same diagnosis. My husband and I went to New Orleans to visit family and it happened again on our 1st night there. My husband took me to ER and I got the same diagnosis. I've been on antibiotics for a year now off and on and can't really see how a UTI could last so long. Now I've been waking up with pains in my lower right side pelvic area. It was just happening every now and then but now its everyday. I was up last night laying in the floor for half an hour in pain but it goes as quickly as it comes. It happens at least 3 or 4 times a day. Could these 2 be related?  Just a little family history (not that I think either has to do with me) my dad has diabetes & mom has MS. Oh and I've had UTI's before when I was younger and I never have the symptoms of them now. I do not use the restroom a lot and it does not hurt when I do go.

Hello,
E.coli is the commonest cause of a UTI and from your symptoms, recurrent UTI may be possible. Recurrent urine infections could be due to various reasons. Most common cause is stones in kidney which is blocking urine pathway. Other causes are changing sexual partners frequently ( unlikely in your case) but ask your husband to get a urine examination and swab of penile discharge done, pregnancy, diabetes and of course childhood infections. The urine can also be due to retention of urine anywhere in its flow due t obstruction. The obstruction can be due to abnormality of structures since birth or stones.

So you should get a ultrasound, CT scan done and also some urine and blood tests.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

I've had a urine test. It said I had E-coli. I had blood tests done in New Orleans and they never said anything came back abnormal. I also forgot to mention these episodes usually last 2-3 days then go away for quite awhile. It's been about a month and a half since the last one.

Hello,
Apart from recurrent UTI, pelvic inflammatory disease and Asherman’s syndrome caused by adhesion formation after a Csection need to be ruled out.  Pelvic inflammatory disease is an inflammation of female reproductive organs (uterus, ovary, etc) and caused by viral, fungal, parasitic or most often bacterial infections. You need to go for blood test, urine test and urine culture, histopathological examination and Ultrasound Pelvis. Please consult a gynecologist and get these tests done.
I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
