Hi,
You don’t need to worry much about cystoscopy as this is usually an outpatient procedure. In this a thin tube is inserted through the urethra and the stent is removed. This is usually done under the cover of antibiotics and analgesia (pain relief medication). There may be slight burning sensation after the procedure and there can be some blood in urine (hematuria) for a day and then everything is fine. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Hi Mike,
I am so sorry for what you are going through. Yes that makes sense, the ureters and the bladder are so closely connected. Probally some swelling after the surgery. Are the stents causing much pain? I find them horrible to deal with!!
Well, soon they will be gone!! Wishing you much luck!! Take are .... Cara
Thanks Cara for your encouraging words. The Laparoscopic was dine in London and it was used to remove his cancerous prostrate. I meet with the surgeon that performed the operation and he explained why stent were used for his Ureter. The prostrate cancer has grown into his bladder, in the course of removing the growth in the bladder; he had to use the stents to demarcate both ureters to avoid stitching the hole.
Once again thank you for you advice and encouragement.
Mike
I have had many, many stents. I am sure they do carry some risk at removal, though I have never had a problem. One thing for sure, he will have immediate relief after the stent is removed. I have always been asleep when they removed the stents. Most of the time mine were removed in the daystay.
May I ask where was the Laproscopic surgery done? What part of the body? I hope he feels better soon as I do know how painful these stents can be. I wish you much luck.... Best .......... Cara
