Hi,
Do you have any associated pain or burning sensation while passing urine or ejaculating?

Is there any pain when you touch the affected area?

Have you had any unprotected sexual encounters?

If the lump has been growing, you will need to see a doctor at the earliest.
It is possible that the lump could be an enlargement of the epididymis or a cyst of the epididymis, but you will need to have an evaluation done by your physician.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
Regards

Hi, i have no pain when i pass urine or when ejaculating and it dosent hurt when i touch the affected area, occasionaly i may get mild pain, but i think thats beacuse my boxxers are tight and i dont reli have much room.
all my sexual encounters have been protected, and the lump isnt getting bigger, its been there for a while now and isnt really causing me any concern, its just nice to know what it is isnt it.Is it possible to be cancer ? even though the lump is attached to the cord?
as im told cancer is just a lump and nothing else?
write back please
thankyou

Hi,
You age and status as a smoker play major roles in the appearance of cancer.

"An epididymal cyst causes a painless epididymal lump palpable separate from the testis.  Gummas and haematoceles, like tumours, present as painless scrotal swellings, but unlike tumours, the testis and epididymis can not be easily defined."
www.surgical-tutor.org.uk/tutorials/hernia.htm

"A spermatocele (epididymal cyst) is a sperm-filled cyst in the long, tightly coiled tube that lies above and behind each testicle (epididymis). It feels like a smooth, firm lump in the scrotum on top of the testicle.

Although the cause of a spermatocele is often unknown, it may be caused by obstruction of the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles (epididymal ducts).

Often a spermatocele does not cause symptoms. You may notice what looks or feels like an extra lump or mass above the testicle on one side of your scrotum, or a general enlargement of your scrotum. Symptoms, when present, can include pain, swelling, or redness of the scrotum or a feeling of pressure at the base of the penis.

A spermatocele is usually diagnosed by examining the scrotum. As part of the examination, your health professional will shine a light behind each testicle (transillumination) to check for solid masses that may be caused by other problems, such as cancer of the testicle. Because spermatoceles are filled with fluid, light will shine through them (transillumination). Light will not pass through solid masses that may be caused by other problems, such as cancer of the testicle. An ultrasound may be used to confirm the diagnosis of a spermatocele.

Spermatoceles are not usually dangerous and are treated only when they cause pain or embarrassment or when they decrease the blood supply to the penis (rare). Treatment is not usually needed if a spermatocele does not change in size or gets smaller as the body reabsorbs the fluid.

If the spermatocele gets larger or causes discomfort, a procedure to remove the spermatocele (spermatocelectomy) may be needed."

You can always have it checked by your physician to rule out whether it is a cancerous lump or is just a cyst.

If you have no other symptoms, such as unexplained weight loss, there is no hurry for an evaluation. But it would be good to rule out the possibility in the case of any lump.

Regards

I have had a spermatacele for a long time now and it has grown in size (over twice the size of the left testicle)  I am experiencing erectile problems and am wondering if this can be restricting the blood flow needed for an erection ?  I am 62yrs. old and in quite good health.
