On the 26th March 2008 I had a water infection with burning when urinating and frequent urination I was treated with antibiotics cipro trimethoprim and cipro now then infection has gone but there it still blood in my urine. I went the other day to check if it was still present and they said yes and also there is sugar in it, what could this mean?? I have discomfort in my lower abdomen and its painful when I walk. I am being referred to urology but havent been feeling myself for a while now I have lost over 2 stone and have no appetite what so ever!! I was wandering if I ask my doctor to do a test for ovarian cancer if he would do it??
I am no expert or Dr. but I have had microscopic blood recently discovered in my urine. I have been researching it alot and I have read that blood and sugar in your urine could be a sign of diabetes. Maybe you can ask your Dr. to test you for that. Try to stay calm. I know its hard and am having a hard time myself but stress makes all things worse. Keep me posted.
Yeah I read that about the sugar and diabetes. It's really hard, I keep thinking the worst! i am really teary but try not to show my partner all the time as I know there is nothing I can do but wait im really scared. What did they do with you then when you had it in your urine??
Hang in there. Diabetes is highly treatable. With diet, exercise and the proper meds you will be fine. I just got the report of microscopic blood yesterday afternoon. I called the on-call physician for my doc and he gave me antibiotics. Said it could be a low grade infection. I need to finish the antibiotics and then get tested again. Also, I run about 3 miles a day and I guess all the activity could cause the microscopic blood in my urine also. I am really scared but I am trying to be normal because I have to wait a few weeks to finish the antibiotics and get tested again. Good luck with everything. Let me know how you are. I will pray for you. I think whatever it is, you will be able to treat it and live normally!
Ok well good luck with your next test keep me posted. Thanks a lot for your reply I will keep you posted. Would it of showed up on a blood test if I had diabetes? because I had a blood test in January. But then again I only found out there was sugar in my urine on Friday.
I am not sure what kind of tests they do on a routine blood panel. The last one that I had did check for glucose. It may have shown up but there may be more extensive tests to screen for diabetes and pre-diabetes. I wish you the best. Don't forget to let me know how you are.
I've been to the doctors this morning, and said I think I might have diabetes and could I have a blood test to check it. He said I had 2 blood tests taken in either Feb or March and my glucose leve was fine on one it was 4.5 and on the other it was 4.9 so he is happy with them :-S
Yeah let me know. I have just made an appointment with urology and have got an appointment for wednesay 7th May for some scans and cystoscopy which im very nervous about! They arent putting me to sleep for the cystoscopy which I thought they would and my doctor told me they would. Just have to wait till then now...
I am sorry that you have to have the cystoscopy. I am scared that I will have to have one also. I was hoping that I could repeat the urinalysis to check for more blood before it comes to that. Did you repeat the urinalysis? I am still waiting for my Doc to come in. He will be in the office in about 20 more mins. I hope he will see me today. I don't think you ever said if you were male or female or your age group. I am a 29 year old female. I don't know what that does for my risk assessment as far as the blood in the urine goes or if that effects the next test steps that will be taken. I heard they give local anasthetic for the cystoscopy. Good luck. Keep me posted.
Yes we sent a few tests which all came back positive for blood although you cant see the blood you can tell its there as my urine is very cloudy! Ask for a strip test which shows straight away if blood is present thats what I did in the doctors surgery. I'm 24 year old female coming up 25 in June. Well mine started out as an infection which has now gone but the bood is still there and I have still got frequent urination. I could of waited 5 weeks to get the cystoscopy but im travelling a little further to get it done earlier. I have heard a lot of people on here have had this procedure done and still dont know what is wrong.
I just got home from the doc visit and lunch with my husband. The doc was not there but the nurse called him and then she had me pee in a cup once again so they can do a culture. I need to go back later in the week to see the doc and for yet another urinalysis. My urine is kind of hazy. You can see through it usually but in the light it looks like there is tiny particles suspended in it. I noticed this when peeing in cup for a pregnancy test, which came out negative.
I did have a kidney infection about 6 months ago. The infection was gone when re-tested. The nurse at my doc's office said that there may be some type of reaccurring infection. I asked her about the relatively few wbc and the elevated rbc and she said that there does not have to be wbc on the urinalysis to have an infection. She also said I may need to see a urologist. I am freaked out. I am glad that I have been able to talk with you though. It has helped. I have work tomorrow and I am nervous about it because I tend to just sit there and worry. I have an office job so there is not alot to distract me.
Hopefully the microscopic blood has gone, fingers crossed for you! Let me know how you get on. I'm hoping for kidney stones to show up when I go to the urologist and that they wont have to go any further and do the cystoscopy! I really dont want this done but I have no choice now. I am going to make sure they check for any infection first and check that the blood is still present before they do the cystoscopy by the sounds of things its a last resort anyway when nothing else has shown up. It is nice to have someone to talk to about this, thank you. You sound just like me im a worrier its all I do and as I dont work I have all day to worry its a nightmare.
Yea, it is a nightmare. I worry myself sick all of the time. I wish I didn't work. I feel better when I am at home. Trust me work does not keep your mind off anything and all that happens at work is I get more upset because I have to worry about getting my work done while I'm worrying about how I am doing. I also have to worry about find the privacy to call the Dr. I don't have an office, just a cubicle. People are always around.
No, it's just me and my husband. I just wanted to check the board before work. I'm glad I caught your message. I have to be there in 1/2 hour and I didn't even shower yet. I am a mess this morning. I am so scared something is severely wrong. I have to go get ready. I will post again after work. Have a good day.
Hey. How are you feeling? I just went to the Doc and he said that he thinks I have a bladder infection. More antibiotics. He did say that if I keep having these problems its off to the urologist. He said that he did a urinalysis and culture on the specimin that I left yesterday and it was negative for blood. I think it was just a dipstick though and that makes me nervous because my last dipstick was negative also. I told him that and he said they did a microscopic but the nurse said that it was only a dipstick. I don't know who to believe.
Hey. I am glad you are feeling ok. Is your urine still cloudy? How long do you have to wait until you can go to the urlologist? Waiting is the worst. My dad went to a urlologist and he had a cytoscope and he said it didn't hurt while they were doing it but it hurt to pee afterward. Just once though. I don't know if its different for guys. I would think it would be worse for them.
My doc does send it away and I just called the lab and they said it did have micro and dipstick done, They said they always do both because dipsticks are unreliable. I started my new antibiotic last night and I am feeling alot better. I am not sure if that is possible after one pill but my lower stomach hurts alot less.
Well, time to get ready for work again. Let me know how you are.
Yeah its still cloudy. Im going on Wednesday the 7th May. Yeah I read a post on here from a lad who had a cystoscopy done and he said it didnt hurt, I thought it would be a lot worse for men! Glad your feeling better. Just got my appointment letter today which says im getting an ultrasound scan of my abdomen and then an x-ray. Then I will have a urine sample taken and a blood test. And then finally the cystoscopy.
Yeah having to wait is horrible. But im going next week so fingers crossed will find out the cause of this microscopic blood. I am thinking it may be kidney stones as my back under my right rib has been killing me for months, since about February. Its like a dull ache and seems to be worse at night. The only relief i get is in bed when im laid on my back on my pillows it seems to ease the pain and I sleep well. Yeah hope we both get sorted!!
Yea, that sounds alot like a kidney stone. Do you have any family history of them? I'm not sure if that makes you more likely to get them or not. I have also been getting some pain under my left rib. I should have asked my doc about kidney stones. I did tell him about the back pain but I didn't mention that possibility. I like my doc but he tends to be very quick with visits and I feel like he doesn't listen enough. I have been considering getting a new one. Have a good day, its off to work for me!
No family history that I know of no. Think it increases your chances if your close family have had them. Yeah I hate that you go to the doctors and as you sit down he is doing your prescription before you have even told him your problems. I have been thinking about changing doctors too, but I cant complain at the moment as he has done his job and referred me which is good. Have a good day
