looking for help

I had surgery for an inigual hernia on my right side ,open surgery. on january of 2007, soon after the surgery i started getting pain in my right testicle and severe cramping in my stomach area and extreme pain. I have seen 2  surgeons since the first surgery, the first surgeon thought it might be caused by the inigual nerve. On january 2008 i had surgery to have the nerve cut. It did not help and the pain in my testicle and groin area, as well as my abdomain has been getting worse. I have seen another surgeon that has sent me for ultasounds as well as an mri but all came back as normal. He told me that it might be damage to the spermatic cord, he decided to give me lidocaine shots in the spermatic cord to see if it would help. after about an hour after the shots i felt better then i have  since i had the original surgery for the removal of the inigual hernia. But it only lasted about 4 hours then the pain and cramping came back with a vengence. the pain is destroying my life, i cannot do anything except lay down, walking and sitting brings on the pain so severe that my body gets hot flashes from the pain and i begin to sweat severly. I have been dealing with this for almost 2 years now and the surgeon is going to try to have pain management try to help, but he is doubtful of the outcome because he believes the spematic cord is the reason for my problems. he told me that i probably would need to see a specialist to operate on me to remove the double layered mesh that is causing the symptoms i have, and it is a very dangerous operation because of the placement of the mesh.It has also been discussed with me that i may have to have the right testicle removed also,if the spermatic cord cannot be fixed.
This past 2 years have totally destroyed my life, my wife and i cannot be physical with one another because of the constant pain in my testicle. My abdomain hurts so bad that my stomach area gets so painful that the muscles tighten so much that my stomach gets hard as a rock and it makes my breathing hard to get a full breath.
what i`m looking for is any help? have you heard of anyone that has had this problem before? how was it treated? and most of all what was the outcome?  A little background about me, i`m now 52, i was 50 when i got the hernia,

Hi,

Chronic pain following inguinal hernia repair has been accepted as a prevalent complication of the procedure.

Some studies have identified incidence of this complication as occuring in cases where there has been use of Radomesh, BMI over 25, and a younger age at surgery.

Though the best option would be to have the cause of the pain identified and corrected, in the event that this effort is futile or complicated, you can try pain management with neurontin or elavil. These are centrally acting pain killers and have been identified as being most effective in managing chronic pain in individuals after inguinal hernia repair.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
regards

Hi I am need of a little advice. I got a Inigual hernia on march 23, 2012 at work lifting a 100-120 lb object. I had the initial surgery on march 30, 2012 where the surgen told me that it would be a 30 minute operation and I would be "fully" recovered in about 2-4 weeks. The surgery lasted an hour and a half and have yet to recover. After the surgery I was experiencing severe pain and swelling of the left testicle. The testicle was also getting hard and developing fever I also had a knot right below where the scar from the surgery was located (on my left growing area) so the doctor did a ct scan and a sonogram and "determined" that I had a large hydrocyl that had surrounded my left testicle and a smaller hydrocyl  that was under the scar from the surgery explaining the knot. He then tryed to go in hypodermicly and remove the fluid from the hydrocyl that was in my growing and no fluid would extract. Then he refered me to a urologist. He ordered the same ultrasound and ct scan and determined that the upper knot I had was a hematoma from a bleed I had from the first surgery not a hydrocyl and a large hydrocyl around the left testicle. The urologist Ordered my second sergery August 6,2012 where he removed the hematoma and the hydroclyl I thought the surgery had went fine til the following day when I woke up a 4am screaming in pain and noticed that my testicles were the size of a large canelope. I had my wife take me to the emergency room and they gave me some medicine to reduce the pain and I went in the following day to see the urologist where he determined that I infact had another bleed that was pretty severe. He asked me to wait it out to see if my body would absorb the fluid exactly 2 weeks from that surgery he sceduled my 3rd surgery where he irrigated the testicle and removed all of the clotted blood and fluid. Now it has been 11 days since my last surgery my testicle is still swollen and it is hard again and is producing some type of orange colored puss. This has ruined my life I can not work to support my wife and daughter No physical relations at all. I have to lay down to urinate. sitting is very uncomfortable and standing is bearable in short intervals. Im afraid I am going to loose my testicle but at this point I am so tired of being in pain I almost want them to. Im extremely depressed because of all of this. Can someone plesase give me some advice on this. I have an appointment on the 5th of September Id like some input before then if possible. Thank you and God Bless.
