working out affecting prostatitis

i have had prostatitis for about six months now it has gone through stages of being better and getting worse.  I have read many different things about it and one is that cardio and weight training can make it worse or prolong it i want to know if this is true because working out is a large part of my life one that will be very hard for me to give up.  Any other do's or dont's that you could give me would be very helpful.

Although possible, I am not aware of specific physical activity that can affect the course of the disease.

If the symptoms continue, a transrectal ultrasound can be considered to look for abscess.  Prostatic massage with culture of the prostatic fluid can be done to narrow down the choice of antibiotic.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician or urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
