Daily Calorie Intake

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what the best daily calorie intake for me to loose weight would be.

I am 21 years old, 5' 7" and 208lbs.

My goal is to get between 160-165lbs by Sept 2010.

About 6 months ago I was taking a boxing training course to help me loose weight and become fit. My trainer left the gym I was going to and I stopped working out completely, I have since then gained back the 25 lbs I had lost. I have recently started going back to the gym and am trying to go 6 days a week. Mon, Wed and Fri I focus on doing mainly cardio and on Tues, Thurs and Sat I do weight training. I also try to squeeze in a Spin class on Monday's and Thursday's. I own 3 very active dogs so I do about 30 mins - an hour of speed walking each day as well as Saturday/Sunday 2-3 hr hikes (depending on weather). As you can see I am quite active, I just need advice on how many calories I should intake on a daily basis and if you have any suggestions on certain foods I should be eating or staying away from that would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read/respond to my questions! If there is anything else you would need to know please let me know.

Have a wonderful day,
Bai Leigh

One pound is 3500 calories. Figure out how many calories you consume per day. In order to loose one pound in a week you will need to cut out 3500 calories from your diet per week. They say loosing 2 pounds per week is a healthy way to loose weight.

Exercise does not seem to be your issue...if your not loosing then your eating enough calories to maintain your current weight versus loose weight. Also, there might be a metabolic reason why your keeping weight like your thyroid? Go see your doc and ask him to runs some blood work for you.

Why don't you go on a lower calorie diet, eating more lean proteins and mostly veggies and see what happens? Stay away from all fast foods, processed food, boxed foods and sugars. Sugars can really erase weight loss. I would say if you cut your calories in half each day you will see losses. Just be sure you discuss this with a doctor or a nutritionist before you do anything substantial.

Also, your doctor may be able to give you some sort of weight loss supplement? Ask.
