why cant I lose weight?

Hello all,

Im really frustrated trying to lose 5-10 lbs. I Work out (cardio/pilates) 2 hrs a day. eat lots of fruit and veggies, calorie intake is around 1300, and all for around 3 months now.  I cant seem to lose anything. any ideas why or what I could do for that.
Please help, im concidering surgical options if i cant do this.

I walk 90 minutes 3 days a week. I go to the park when I can and when I can't I get on my treadmill. I do 30 minutes twice a week of strength training using 3 and 5 pound hand weights. I use DVD's from the library. I use a ball with the one DVD and a chair with the other. Both DVD's are for upper, lower, and middle. A full body workout. When I think they are getting to easy I'll switch them out for others.

My view of myself is also distorted sometimes. A picture sometimes helps me see what's really there. I also know that I can't look that bad because my weight is normal and I'm in a normal clothes size. You could ask your doctor what weight he thinks would be good or what he thinks is the minimum you should weigh. Sometimes you have to ignore yourself and listen to others. That is hard too because sometimes you need to ignore others and listen to yourself. I have my good and bad days just like everyone else but lately I'm having more good days than bad when it come to liking my body.

You can do this and like I said, if it's not working try something different. My sister went to a dietitian. They can tell you everything and even come up with a detailed menu to make sure your getting enough and the right foods. You usually need a prescription from your doctor to go but if your going to see him anyway it can't hurt. I know it my seem silly to you but this might just be the reassurance you need that your doing the right thing and your on the right track. I know I'll never be completely satisfied with myself but I think I'm doing a pretty good job of finding a happy medium. I'm sure you can too!

Hello there,

May I ask, What exersize do you do, . I personally like the at home video tapes, and have a vareity of them now- also treadmill.
Thanks for your support. Im super strict with how I eat, because of the lack of progress, so i might have to change my habits slowly.
At the age of 13 I lost 90 lbs in about 3 months(in the wrong way-anorexia), and it has caused some distorted visions of myself, and sometimes Im not sure what to do. I know I can lose weight without not eating, but I just cant seem to do it, so the reasurrance is much appreciated. :)

If what your doing is not working you should try something different. Beating a dead horse will get you nowhere. I would start with what Barb135 and Ranaesheart have said. I have lost 50 pounds and have never had less than 1200 calories in a day and it's probably closer to 1300-1400 a day. I also workout and I'm not bulking up I'm getting lean and defined. Try it, it will work. Good Luck!

Hello Barb,

I hope everything is ok with Ranae...

As of yet. ive been maintaining my weight, Working out 2 hrs a day. All kinds of workouts. And eating the same everyday. So if I add calories in the form of yogurt of tofu(protien/fat) I wont gain weight? Im sorry if I am repeating, It just sounds so opposite of what ive been trying to do (eat little calories,and working out hard). Will I eventually lose weight as I am going do you think? Also, would i need to work out more to burn off added calories?
I also should add, I dont want to gain muscle either, I want to flat out get skinnier..")
