pain when urinating after urine sample collected by tube

My OG doctor inserted a tube into my bladder to collect urine sample (urinary catheter?) to have a good test of UTI.  It was extremely painful when he was doing it, although he told me it should have been only discomfort.  There was some bleeding at the end of the procedure.  The days after, it has also been burning when I urinate.  Is this normal? Is there any chance that the doctor did not do a good job and caused my bladder infected?  What makes me worried most is that whether this doctor will be good enough to deliver my baby if he could not do a simple procedure?

It's imperative that the catheter be lubricated properly, if it isn't you're going to experience a lot of pain. Did you see the doctor or the nurse lubricate the catheter? Nurses are usually the ones that place and remove catheters. If you continue to have pain and/or blood spotting, I would visit a different doctor. Placing an improperly lubricated catheter is inexcusable.

It's not the doctors fault, there is always a risk of infection when a cathetar is placed. I'd give him a call and tell him that it's burning, it may be a UTI.
