Tracy, I wonder about that for me too! I've had two miscarriages and I really am worried that something might be wrong. Your regular OB tested you for this? Or did you have to go to a specialist? I'm taking baby aspirin right now. Did they say anything about this to you?
Hi Allie,
Your regular ob doc or nurse can order the tests. They said they normally don't do this until 3 m/c's but they did mine after 2 becauase I think they felt bad I had 2 in a row. I would have never guess. Its just panel of blood work to find the gene. Blood work took 1 day to get back. Baby aspirin was recommended if you have the gene and my nurse told me it dosen't hurt regardless and really does help with thinning out the blood. I am on that until I get PG. I would just ask your regular ob/gyn for the tests and just tell them you are concerned about it. I wish more dr's were more proactive. I would have never thought this in a million years being termed "gene mutation" but it can definitely be a cause of repeated miscarriages.
I hope that helps and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
They did not refer me to a specilist right now but consulted one after my blood test and told me about the lovenox once I get Pregnant. I am very happy with my ob/gyn and would like to stay with her if I can. I heard most people do see perinitolist's (I am sure I messed up that spelling) once they get pg with this gene mutation
Tracy---
Thank you....hey, let's keep in touch! I really would like to have a buddy....I don't know if I have this, but I am just wondering. You see, I used to donate plasma in college (this is where you are hooked up to a machine for an hour and blood goes in and out).
Well, my blood would always get clotted up in the needle! They told me there to take an aspirin before I came to donate to help with this.
My doctor didn't think we needed to run tests, but she said I could take the baby aspirin. I guess I will just take the baby aspirin and hope for the best. If it happens again, I will insist on testing. I'm trying again this month. I hope baby aspirin will do the trick. I'm also going to have my progesterone checked.
You can always email at home if you want to keep in touch. That would be nice and I am glad I could help. If your insurance will allow it I would get tested because you will never know what you will find. I would have never guess my blood clotting gene. My ob/gyn said they can't tell me for sure that this is what cause my miscarriages both times but it said it could have been. I can't seem to make it past the 6 th week. I would be worried to if my blood didn't passed through the needle right during plasma donation. I think you have every right to concerned. Baby aspirin will certainly not hurt my ob said and it definitely does wonders she says. Good luck! My home email is ***@****
