3 bacterial infections

I was just diagnosed on Friday with my 3rd bacterial infection since December.  . I have not had a day in 3 months that it has felt  "normal" down there. First was on metro gel, second time Tindamax and now cleocin.I tried some home remedies in between, hydrogen peroxide and water douche, tea tee oil which I think helped some. I am desperate to fell normal Shaun. Any suggestions? Once I finish this antibiotic I am scared it will come back again.

Thank you, I do not see any discharge right now. I have what feels like I little itch right inside the vagina. Also , the skin on the lower area to the side (kind of to the left side) where the labia goes toward the rectum gets tender. I started putting Vaseline on it. I will try coconut oil. Do you use the liquid or the solid wax like kind? Not sure why this pink tender area right outside the vaginal entrance does not want to heal. Would you describe the feelings you get as twitching or more tingling? I am not quite sure how to describe mine, it's just a strange feeling. Thanks so much for your advice

Hey there, I wouldn't worry too much, it doesnt sound like that is related to bv, or herpes.  I have recurring bv infections with gardenella also and I've not usually had tenderness as a symptom  Is your discharge all gone?? that'd be a big clue that you are cured for now.  I've had some trouble with itching/raw areas down there lately and I've actually been using coconut oil, a woman on another forum told me about it.  It's working well so far, if the skin is just irritated that might help you out

I finished antibiotic last Monday, off now for 10 days and still have a tender area at vaginal entrance. Is this normal to still have symptoms? As i said this is my third but i dont think the others ever went away altogether. Maybe bacteria is not gone but it still feels a bit sore. Anyone that can comment? I am still concerned herpes could be a factor.

They told me the bacteria is Gardenerella. I had Mettogel the first time, Tindamax the 2nd time and this time Cleocin. When you had bv( a year, how awful) did you have irritation at your vaginal entrance and irritation at your clitoris? I have this very tender pink area near the entrance that won't seem to get better, not sure if this is from the BV. How did you finally get rid of? Thank you so much for the advice

My symptoms ease up when on medication but never go completely away. I am still terrified I could have herpes. When I first developed symptoms and googled them, herpes came up. Even though I  never had any lesions and I had 3 blood test come back negative I can't help but think maybe its both. Experts on herpes say that herpes would not have this constant irritation but I did find out I was exposed 3 months ago when all this started. Last blood test at 9 weeks was negative but they say you need to wait 12 weeks for best results. I am getting another test in a few weeks to confirm. Makes me feel sick thinking about it. I just want to feel normal again. Wish me luck. Going to doctor again this week to see what else they can do.

By the way, Flagyl is typically used to get rid of BV.

Herpes tends to be pretty uncomfortable/painful.  I have a friend who has herpes and it involves 'outbreaks' that she can feel coming due to tingling.  It's nerve based.  So, I'm doubting from what you've written to be honest, that you have herpes.  Really doubtful.

I had a BV episode that last almost a year!  Ugh.  It just wouldn't go away.  They can culture your discharge and see what it is.  Have they done that?

Thank you for the advice. My husband and I only used conforms since I was diagnosed so we are not passing it back and forth. What recommendations do you have? I have read about Fem Dopholis and BV essentials . Any experience?

Hi there.  Sorry you are going through this.  Ladies----  douching is terrible for us.  That is a scientifically proven fact and it contributes to infections.  Don't do this!  There are cleansing wipes that you can use but that is about it.  Douching causes ph issues and is a real problem for most women.

BV can be very hard to totally eradicate.  Often, they will give the medication to one's partner as it can be passed back and forth.  So consider this.  Change underwear often especially if you've exercised and such and it is damp with sweat.

Lots of luck.  Don't be discouraged.  many women have trouble getting fully rid of bv but conquer it eventually.  peace

Hey there,
Rephresh is really a temporary treatment, but depending on your symptoms it can be effective.  it works for me to control the symptoms, but I only get the "classic" bv symptoms of odor and sticky white discharge. did they check your levels of good bacteria? what are your symptoms like?  if they dont go away while you're on medication it might not just be bv

Hi, thanks for the response. My partner and I have only had sex twice since I was diagnosed and we used a condom. I felt too sore down there. My symptoms are more constant, never in the past 3 months has it felt "normal" down there. Sometimes better than others . I tried the Rephresh suppositories and also douching with peroxide and water which seemed to help. 3rd culture came back negative but I douched the night before. I stopped about 5 days before last appt. and this time positive  again. I was told the Rephresh can give you abdominal pain, so I stopped. Seems like when I stop my home treatments it comes right back. I also used tea tree oil. Just finished Cleocin and it still doesn't feel right. Now they put me on Diflycan for yeast for 5 days and said if no better call to come in next week. Is the Rephresh what helped you?

Hey Rainy,

I know how you feel, I've had a lot of trouble with recurring bv infections.  a couple questions:  if you're sexually active has your partner taken antibiotics with you?  they should be, it might be contributing to the problem. do your symptoms dissapear when youre on medicine or is it just sort of constant?  In terms of good products, have you tried rephresh? how about VH essentials? also you can get a kit to measure your vaginal ph and see how you are doing. good luck... bv is awful
