Anal rash

I've been suffering from a yeast infection for over three months.I couldn't get an appointment with my gynecologist, and I wasn't sure it was a yeast infection (absolutely no discharge) so I was afraid to use over the counter medication. March 1st, my gyno prescribed Terconazole 0.8% cream (3 day treatment). It didn't touch it, so on the 15th I repeated the treatment. On the 25th I was loosing my mind, because I still had the infection, so I was prescribed 2 doses of Diflucan (to be taken 4 days apart), and Nystatin cream to be used twice a day until I felt relief. After a few days I thought I was healing, but less than a week later I've acquired a deep red rash around my anus, and it burns like he**. I have no idea what's doing on, but I've been in pain nearly 4 months and I need some relief. I've goggled everything I can possibly think of, but hemorrhoids is about the only thing that pops up, and I don't have any itching whatsoever (I didn't with the yeast infection either). I haven't been constipated, I'm usually on my feet not in a chair, no family history, healthy weight, and I'm not pregnant.  I don't know if I should buy over the counter hemorrhoid treatment in lieu of a THIRD doctors visit this month, or cut off my lower extremity. BTW, I'm 50 years old, if that help?  Please advise!

Hi there.  Wow, I'm so sorry!  This sounds incredibly painful/uncomfortable.  Clearly, you need to see your doctor again.  I am sure you are a little burned out of the whole doctor thing but this needs to be medically addressed.

Now, you CAN get a yeast infection of the anus. The pictures look like what you describe.  Doesn't sound like a hemorrhoids at all.  But it is so hard to say.

Please see your doctor again and let us know what they say.  I feel for you--  and hope this is cleared up very soon!  good luck

If you have some of the creams left over, it IS safe to apply some of the creams (Nystatin) around the anal area and just inside (up to the first knuckle) for yeast issues.   I have had the SAME issue.  I'm in my 40s and it drove me crazy - until I realized it was a yeast infection.  Good luck!
