BV

I am 19 years old and recently went to a GUM clinic and was diagnosed with BV. I was given some antibiotics called metronidazole to get rid of it. Ive now taken all the pills but I am still getting the unpleasant smelling discharge that I had before. it seems that the antibiotics haven't worked. Im not sure whether I am not giving it enough time but the doctor said they usually work quickly. Has anyone else had this problem? I will be ringing the clinic asap to discuss this but am just really annoyed that it hasn't cleared up!

I have been clear of BV for a year now and I flooded my body with Probiotics. I took the tablets and drank half a cup of Kiefer a day. (Yogurt drink). I buy the bug and make my own. Every time I feel even a hint of it coming back I start the Probiotics again. I didn't realise there was a wash too and can see how it would work.
Thanks MagicGirl.

Ladies please try this wonderful vaginal probiotic called FloraFemme. It's a prescription strength, very effective product which balances your vaginal pH and cures BV, Yeast infections, and treats vaginal odor. The results I had were nothing short of miraculous, especially since I had tried everything on the market. It's a highly concentrated blend of vaginal probiotics, and is 100% natural. You can google it and buy it online or through Amazon. If you get repeat infections, please give this awesome stuff a try! Good luck ladies!

What are some of the symptoms of BV?  Just out of curiousity.  I know they are often mistaken with yeast infection.  Do they test for it automatically when you get STD and pap done?

I am wondering if I have that.  I have huge white chunks of discharge when I urinate.  I asked the doc a long time ago and she said some people produce more discharge than others to the point where they can see it when they use the bathroom.  It does seem like it may be more like yeast.  Some days I feel a little itchy and others I don't.  I also seem to smell more like vinegar sometimes.  I am seriously ready to trade my vagina in.  Does this sound like BV?  I really don't want to go back to the doc, my last time there, he stuck his finger up my bum, twas not a happy girl.

I had a BV infection that would not go away for a long time even when antibiotics until I made some simple lifestyle changes.  I started eating yogurt every day and stopped washing my vagina, now I only rinse with water.(Which is fine because your vagina is self-cleaning) I also stopped using that shower "pouf" thing because I think they carry a lot of bacteria.  I also would add about a cup of cider vinegar to my bath water and that helped tremendously.  Hope this helps because BV can be incredibly frustrating.  Good luck!

Yes. BV can be very tricky to get rid of . Almost everytime I 've gotten BV. I have taken the 7 days of metrondazole, and had to follow up with the Metro Gel Vaginal Cream. I would call your Dr. and let him know that the Metrondazole did not clear up the infection...He will probabily have you come back in and give you some more antibiotics or the Metro Gel .
