Baby Kicking, where should I feel it?

I am 25 weeks pregnant and have a retroverted uterus.  Since I've felt the baby moving about 3 weeks ago, I've only felt it in the region below my belly button.

According to the charts, the uterus is supposed to be much higher.

I'm worried that it has not risen, because I don't feel any movement higher up.  Do others feel the kicking above the belly button?

hdt, i don't think it's supposed to hurt. i'm 18 weeks now. i had another baby that only reached 20 weeks. both times, their kicks didn't hurt. i'm a musician, so forgive me if this metaphor doesn't make sense, but the kicks felt like a foot pedal hitting a bass drum (the biggest drum in a basic drum set). They were quick and muted. They felt softer than drum sticks hitting a snare drum. It's cute, not painful. But I don't know what it feels like later than 20 weeks.

i am 20 weeks tomorrow - for the last 2-3 days i have been feeling intermittent spasmic pain on the upper left hand corner of my stomach, about 1.25 inches above and 4 inches on the left of my naval. could it be baby kicks or is it something for me to get concerned about?

I believe I am correct in saying that at 20 weeks your uterus should be between 2 cm below and 2 cm above your belly button.  That is just a general rule.  And it can vary greatly.

The movements you describe seem pretty close to on schedule.  You will start to feel more as the baby grows.  I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about.

When is your next ultrasound?  That should ease your mind a bit.

Good luck,

Amanda

This pregnancy I started out feeling movement below my navel just like you. Even if your uterus is larger baby may have its feet lower. Also, not everyone grows at the same rate so your uterus could be bheind one week and ahead the next compared to "normal". Don't worry, the other poster was right - be content your baby is moving. Closer to 30 weeks I felt movement right above my navel. They say you can feel it in different places because babies move around so much, but in my experience movements have stayed in about the same place this time. At 33 weeks this baby likes where she's at and only ocassionally do I get the swoosh across my tummy like she rolled over. One more thing, my baby has been head down since about 20 weeks and if yours is not the movement location will change entirely when your baby turns.

Babies will move around constantly, so feeling the baby in one spot probably wont happen often. Feeling movement is the most important thing! As the baby grows movement will become more intense. What a wonderful feeling! Best wishes to you

That early it isn't uncommon to feel it below the belly button. Babies wiggle and move all the time, at any given moment they could be upright, sideways, or upside down. Try not to stress, as long as you feel movement you should be thrilled!

Just wait until you get further along and can play 'tag" with your peanut. With each of my boys I could poke a spot on my belly and they would kick back!
