Bleeding 8.5 months ... depo related. Desperate...

I had the depo shot the day after delivery adn have bled for 8.5 months so far. I have NO sex drive, NO orgasm if I happen to try, hubby is patient but this is too much.Im severely depressed now and hair falling out. Doc says give it time but I am feeling VERY ill. I just got out of the hosp from a PID that WAS NOT std related.. and fluid in my abdomen adn by me ovary. Its suspected that the PID was due to  months of tampon use after wearing pads made my labia so irritated I coudlnt stand it.
Questions: How long for depo to get out of my system and side effects to disappear?
Will my sex drive adn ability to orgasm ever return?
Woudl ablation help the constant bleeding and if so, what to do about the other side effets?

Im 36, no more kids wanted.. hubby even has vasectomy, was VERY healthy and physically fit before depo even during the pregancy, never had any kind of std, infection not even a yeast infection, just depo has ruined my life....

Im desperate for help with this.. Id even have a hystorectomy if it woudl stop the constant heavy bleeding... I fear another PID.. it was horrible, I was close to peritonitis, hospitalized for several days, and went into shock/lost my BP... my poor body cant do this any more.

Why do so many of you stay on that ****? Obviously it is doing something to you people. There are so many BC types out there, I would try anything other than depo or seasonal after reading this list. My  daughter uses the patch and nothing ever happened to her. They stuff about all BC and that includes the patch, but what is happening to you girls seems a lot worse than the warning on the patch. She has used it for at least 3 yrs. It was started to lighten her periods, which it did. Get OFF that DEPO.

I had the first shot in January of 2000 and stopped in January of 2005. Yeah I had been on that thing for 5 years and not once did any doctor tell me of all the things that could go wrong with my body. After I dropped the shot I was put onto pills I don't remember what the first three months of them were but then I was put onto seasonal. About a month ago I decided to drop the bc all together to try to get my system back onto track, considering that since January of 2000 I have not had a period. All the doctors around here seem to think that everything is ok, but when you said that you had not had an orgasm while on it. Then it hit me that could be my problem because I have tried on my own and everything that I could think of to help myself to orgasm and nothing works. I do not know what to do, is there anything to help out my body because this is very much annoying and not helping my sex life. And I do have to say that my sex desire has kicked up alot since being off bc but that is not my concern I would like to have an orgasm and not feel like I am letting down my partner. I would like to get everything on track inside and then possibly consider a bc that is going to be safe with me and then pursue sex but this is killing me! Any advise to help. . . . . . .

Hello, I am having some of the same problems. I was 4 weeks post for my 4 week checkup when I got my depo shot. I am now 13 weeks post and still bleeding. I am very anemic and my doctor was saying it was normal. I know that isnt true because I had a child before (got pregnant on depo) and lost losts of blood and even had a blood transfusion and only bleed for 7 weeks to the day. I cant lose weight and I am getting so depressed and with this heat wave on the eastern coast I am feeling discusting with the continuous bleeding. I got to have blood test done sometime this week and then a sonogram of my uterus to find out what this bleeding is all about but I cant wait, I am so scared for so many reasons. My mom and grandmother both had all there female organs taken by age 29 and my aunt needs it but cant because no health insurance. I feel like I need one because it hurts to jog or run because I feel like it all bounces around. I dont know, maybe I can find something out this week.

I wont use it again.. I mean I havent used it since december last year and that was the ONLY shot.. Im STILL bleeding. I want to get an ablation to stop the bleeding but I still need to do somethign about the hormone imbalance which hasnt responded to anythign they have given me yet.. its just so depressing to bleed EVERY day.. yesterday I woke up and got out of bed and it ran down my legs.. its just hard to deal with for so long.

i know how you feel.  i was on depo about 11 months ago for the 6th time and i bled for 5 out of 6 months.  i went to my ob and found out that this time around i was allergic to it.  they immediatly gave me a shot to counteract the depo and then told me to never use it again.  bleeding like that is NOT normal.  please go to your gyn and get it taken care of.  it can cause seriouse problems if you continue use.

If there was some way to take Depo off the market I would sign on the dotted line. It has had terrible side effects on not only myself but several of my friends. To get it out of my system (which I dont know that it is true) they say to flush your system and sweat a lot and drink lots of water. All this could be myth or what they want to say but anything is worth trying right?  I did this and I got pregnant within 6 weeks but I also had no period the whole time off of it nor before I found out I was pregnant. My sex drive returned quit quickly.

With my friend she bled the entire time on depo and as soon as she flushed her system and tried to work out and sweat it out or so we tried everything more or less it took 2 months for her and she finally stopped bleeding and got a normal period the next month.

Good luck getting it out of your system no matter what you try it may take a while.

then your problem needs the attention and reasurance of a specialist. i know in my heart it will be ok but you do need to treat the depression to. all things seem not so bad with a possitive spirit. try going on the internet and type in bleeding after depo or something that relates specifically to you and see what comes up.

the depo has affected your hormones dear. be assured your hormones will return to normal and your orgasms will return. it will last as long as the depo injection was went to work and then maybe a little time for the hormones to retun to normal. try visiting your health shop or find healthy direct. com for some suppliments designed to get hormones back into a natural rythem. some women do not suit hormone interference so it may be best to steer clear of these things. i am one of those ladies and experienced much the same after having the marina coil fitted. i had it removed and it took about 2 normal periods to recover my regular pattern and feel totally human again. dont worry too much. just accept it as a temporary problem that will return to normal when your hormones settle again.
