when will I know I'm pregnant

I had sex last week and my period started this week, by this time next month is it possible that i might miss my period since i had sex too close to the time my period was due anyway? Or do you miss your period even if you have sex (unprotected) a week before your period starts? Do you have to wait till next month to see if your period starts?

If you have menses currently then it means that most likely you are not pregnant.

If you become pregnant then menses does not take place.

Having sex right before your period will not make you pregnant if that is your question. You ovulate about 14 days after your period starts and if you have unprotected sex during that time, you may get pregnant.

A period re-sets the clock, unless it wasn't really a period but just some odd bleeding.  You have a period 14 days after you ovulate, so if you had sex 7 days before your period began, you had it too late to get pregnant this month.
