Bleeding due to stopping pill, or period?

I'm having some really strange bleeding a week before my period is due, it's not like a normal period at all, more pink clots and brownish with a little red, and it's not really picking up, it's stayed the same. I know this could be due to stopping my birth control, but should I expect a period next week as well??

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
What you are having is intermenstrual bleeding which can be due to withdrawal bleeding due to stopping the birth control pills. If there is a history of any unprotected intercourse, then it can be due to implantation bleeding as well.
However if there is any unprotected intercourse then  to confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test. Also then I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
