Burning at Vaginal opening

I have been having problems down there ever since my last UTI which was the end of January. I went and got tested for all STDs, all came back negative. There is no possibility that this is herpes either. For the past few weeks it has been burning to urinate (from the urethra itself) and burning around the vaginal opening. I went to the doctor's last week who said everything looked normal but once looking inside me said I had discharge that resembled a yeast infection so I treated for that (7 day treatment). The burning with urination has gone, and the burning around the vaginal opening has decreased quite a bit, but it is still there. It used to be that it would burn for up to an hour after I urinated, and now it is only a few minutes, and less severe burning. I did have my period while treating the yeast infection, and I used tampons so the cream would be effective which seemed to irritate the hole. I'm hoping this is nothing but it is so extremely irritating to have this going on for so long and not know what it is. It is relieving that this is not STD-related (I have been tested 2 times for everything, including another UTI, but still nothing). I have been doing a lot of read-up on vulvovaginitis and vulvodynia which is just constant pain down there but it's really not that painful, just sometimes mild burning, more annoying than painful.

Has anyone had anything similar to this? It's so frustrating to not have the right answers even going to the doctor. Does anyone know what this could possibly be?

Thanks so much for your reply... i went to the doctors today and she said she didn't see much discharge...she sent a bunch of things to be tested but said there was nothing to treat. I had mentioned changing soaps and she said that along with antibiotics could be enough to just irritate the skin, and it hasnt gotten better because the acidity of urine keeps irritating it..she suggested I buy baby cream to allow it to heal better. And no I dont have Trich, i've been tested for it I think 3 times now lol, all negative

If this doesnt get better I may have interstitial cystitis but I'm really hoping that's not what it is but thank you for your reply :)

Yes, you could very well have a bacterial vaginosis, or trichomonas. Is there a strong smell when you urinate? Like a pungent, fishy smell? You probably need a round of Flagyl, it's an antibiotic to treat BV and/or Trich. If after all these go away but the burning around opening and when you urinate, at the meatus, return or continue, it's possible you might have Interstitial Cystitis. It is frequently misdiagnosed as UTI's. But for now, focus on possible BV and see if that solves your problem.

Good luck,

Shannon

Update: There is some grey discharge, and I have looked up symptoms...thinking this is bacterial vaginosis and that my doctor misdiagnosed me as having a yeast infection...does that sound right?
