COLPOSCOPY RESULTS

Hi,
I recently had two abnormal pap smears in a row and was directed to someone else to have a colposcopy done. The doctor I had was a man of few words and I have some questions about my results and was wondering if anyone else possibly knew more about this than I do. When I first had it done he said there were very minor changes to my cervix unlike what the abnormal pap smears were reporting and he took a biopsy and told me that there looked to be a possibility of having HPV (I have no symptoms - which I know many don't show any..) but when I called for my results a week later he told me that he saw inflamation, never mentioned HPV again nor anything else (I was also tested for chlamydia) and asked me to set up a thin-layer pap test in 6 months just to watch and make sure there is nothing precancerous there. Does this mean I don't have HPV? I guess I wish he would have explained things a bit better! Thanks for anyones help.

hi,
i also after ALWAYS getting good pap test results,
was told last july that i had unclear results and that i needed to have a colposcopy done.
after the colposcopy my obgyn was quick with the results
( 5 days) i was told that i have pre-cancerous cells due to the hpv virus.
i was lucky that my doctor took time to explain things to me ( but i was and still is FREAKED OUT AND SCARED
by this). she did say that not all women get symptoms with hpv. they are a lot of different virus due to hpv, if i remember i think its around 30. some women get the warts, some clear up on its oen and some like me havo no symptoms at all, but thats the one that can cause the cells to change. if your doctor wants to give you another test its the best thing, sometimes when the changes in your cervical cells are called low risk, the doctor often just keeps a good eye on the situation to make sure it does not get to high risk and it might just go awat on its own.. a pap or colposcopy every 6 months is the best solution. i would not worry it could be nothing also, i wish you luck.

hi HPV does not have symptoms..First, if you don't ever understand something ask ur dr.  that is what he gets paid for and why he is there..FOR YOU. alot of times HPV goes away on its own but if he said there is a possibilty I would have another pap in three months and go from there, and just FYI, alot of times doctors have assistants that help them explain things to patients, especially something like this so please ask for info, it is your body!!!!!good luck keep posted!!

besides, thats his job and dont worry about asking a million times if you have to. you need to know whats wrong and if you can just leave it alone for six months or is it something you need to take care of NOW. good luck
