Can I swim while using vaginal suppositories?

I was diagnosed with cervicitis and ectopia (erosion of the cervix), which are not caused by a bacterial infection. I was prescribed Albothyl (Policresulen) suppositories - 3 packs (6 suppositories each) for 1 pack a month after period for 3 months. These suppositories are supposed to renew the damaged skin on the cervix caused by the ectopia. My question is whether I can swim in a private pool while using them, or could the swimming possibly affect the effectiveness of the suppositories or make the chances of getting an infection bigger?

Hey, me again! I called the doctor today, she said you can swim freely, you don't have to stop the suppositories. You should put a tampon in and you can swim for an hour or two and then remove the tampon. If the skin around the vagina becomes sensitive (from using the suppositories +swimming) , you can apply Canesten or another antifungal cream freely. But you have to be cautious and use tampons just for swimming and not on daily basis while using the suppositories. On daily basis you should use pads when not swimming so that the old damaged skin on the cervix can fall freely on the pad. I hope I helped someone!

Oh my gosh, that is a really good question.  To clarify, you first say the issue of your cervix was NOT caused by bacteria but then go on to ask about making infection bigger.  Did you or do you have an infection?  I would ask the doctor that prescribed your medication or a pharmacist about swimming during treatment.  And PLEASE come back and tell us as that is a great question!

Hey! Thanks for your answer :) Just to clarify - the problem was NOT caused by bacteria. My concern is whether swimming while renewing the cervical skin will make a bigger chance to GET an infection?
P.S. - I came up with the question over the weekend and since the gynecologist's office doesn't work on weekends, I will call them first thing in the morning on Monday and I will report back.
