I am 8 days late for my period so decided to take a home pregnancy test today which turned out negative.  Is there still a chance i could be pregnant.  How accurate are these test? Has anyone else been in a similar situation and found that they were in fact pregnant even though test negative?

I would suggest if possible that you both have blood pregnancy tests done. That way if it comes back as negative you will have your definite answer and your docs can put you on provera to bring about your period.

My sister however never tested positive until 2 weeks past her missed AF. She gave birth to 4 healthy girls. So it is very poss to have neg tests and still be pregnant.

Hello yes for sure I agree with the other ladies I suggest you get a blood pregnancy test I have a daughter that did like four hpts and all had negative results and went and had a blood one done and it came out positive why I do not know. Good luck and I wish you the best.

wow.. I did not realize alot of other women are in the same shoes as myself.  I again am in the situation, i tried calling my gynocologist this morning to go in for some blood tests, and the nurse indicated for me to wait about 2 more weeks.  I think i am stressing just thinking i am pregnant.  My menstrual cycles are always like clock work the 21st of every month (Oct/Nov/Dec) all fell on the 21st, however i have yet to get my jan. 21st.
is it safe to presume that today i am 7 days late
do i count the day that i was suppose to get my period?

Wow, I am in the same boat as you all..should've started on the 22nd of Jan. and still nothing.  I have taken 2 HPT's and both are NEG. Also, I started having a lot of CM around the day I was supposed to start AF and still have a little.  My Husband and I had unprotected intercourse in Dec. the day or so before I started AF (started AF on Dec. 19th) and then unprotected intercourse again around the 23rd or 24th of Jan. after I started that CM (other times we used a condom) but these 2 times we didn't.  My cycle is approx. 34 days...So is the CM me ovulating again?  I am so confused, or I could be pregnant.  I have 2 sons already and didn't find out I was pregnant until 5-7 weeks pregnant with them.  I guess I will wait until Thurs. or Fri. and test again if AF doesn't come.

Please help me with this one.... 13 days late, two home pregnancy test, and one blood test, all negative! I already have one child and when i was 6 weeks pregnant with her i took 3 home pregnancy test and they were all negative, but the blood test was positive, my Doc say's to wait a few more weeks and if i don't get my period then have another blood test. I'm really stressed out because i still don't know, and I've never skipped a period before and according to him this is possible, has this happened to anyone else?

well just an FYI, my AF came which is a disappointment! but it came and all those negative tests happened  because i really was not late, my cycle just changed.  Good luck to everyone!

My lmp was 7/22 and was normal, lasting 4 days.  on 8/1, i had very light pink bleeding for 3 days.  my period was supposed to start somewhere around 8/22-23 and was no where to be found.  my breasts are somewhat tender (mainly the right) and have been having increased pressure in my lower abdomen (not quite cramp-like, but uncomfy just the same).  i've taken several pregger tests and they've all come back negative.

Yes it can be inaccurate. I had a friend who had her monthly every month, did not gain any weight (if anything lost a couple lbs) and did not know she was pregnant until she went into labour (and even then she didn't know it was that until the EMS guy told her)

the baby was very still and so she had absolutely no sensation about being pregnant... She took a pregnancy test cause her monthly was late by a week one time and it came back negative... even though now it is obvious it was wrong......

With my first pregnancy, I was a month late with about 8 negative HPT's in the trash!! It wasn't until I went to the doctor who preformed a blood test that was able to verify that I was indeed pregnant. I think that every women is different when it comes to the HCG hormone that builds up. HPT's might not work as the marketing scheme claims...can detect 4 das before a missed period...for every women.
So all of you who get a negative HPT and think you may still be pregnant, I would say it is definitley possible. Go to your Dr. to find out!

I have been reading about this and it seems everyones levels of HCG (the hormone that home pregnancy tests test for) are different in early pregnancy, and some people even seem to have low levels all the way through their pregnancy. Most pregnancy tests seem to say they are 99% accurate and false positives are much rarer than false negatives. So I think that just under one in a hundred people taking a pregnancy test are actually pregnant but their test is showing a negative. Does this make any sense? I am beginning to think reading all these posts that we are relying too much on all these tests. I feel like I am pregnant, but all but one of the tests I have taken have said negative. I still do not have my period, but I am about 5 weeks post miscarrying my first pregnancy at 12 weeks, so I am just hoping my body is not playing a mean trick on me. I hate waiting though!

It depends how long it has been since you last had sex. Some tests wont show an accurate answer until a certain amount of time has passed. So, it is VERY POSSIBLE you could be pregnant with a negative test. Go to your doctor's office and get a pregnancy test done. That's your best bet. Hope i helped!

I came off the pill in november and had a normal withdrawal bleed beginning of december (6/12/07). Then on a drunken xmas eve i hooked up with an old boyfriend and had unprotected sex using the withdrawal method. I have stopped taking the pill before in the past and have always come on normally a month later. However i am now 8 days late, I have felt like i was about to start my period for the past 2 weeks. My breast hurt and i feel full in my lower abdo, also my discharge has increased. I've done 3 HPT all are negative. Could i be possible i'm pregnant??

We should just call this boat we are all in a Yacht at this point!!!! My husband and I just started trying this last cycle, so this was our first try! Well i am one week late...and all negative test answers! What is with all these different levels? I am wasting money on tests, but my friends tell me it is too soon! Which is hard to believe when you are a week late! Do you think i could still be pregnant anyone?

I agree this is no boat, it's def. a yacht! I've always had a normal cycle but now I'm about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks late. I've taken 2 HPT and they've both come up negative (it looks like a faint neg. sign but then again that could be wishful thinking.) We do not use protection at all. I've started feeling nauseas at night, I'm a little swollen, kind of like bloating, I'm tired, my moods and emotions are so unpredictable, I'm so confussed.This would be my first and I still hope and pray that I am. I've always wanted a family, so I'm still praying I am! Do you think I could still be pregnante even after 2 negative tests?

It can always come up negative due to your hormone levels. Sometimes they are not always strong enough in the early early stages of pregnancy, so the h.p.t's may not always pick it up. However, I have been pregnant 4 times and have beautiful children to show for it. But the test did not always read. One of my daughters would just NOT show up. My husband and I had been trying for 5 months and i was SO upset b/c all the test said negative. Turned out i was 2 months pregnant and it just wasn't showing. I had every symptom.. Tender breast, body aching, getting firmer n pouffier in the tummy right above my hair line,nuasia ( just b/c you don't throw up doesn't mean anything , sometimes you just don't feel good..)hungry or just can't eat and i was very tired and just plain mean!..LOL. The hardest thing is PATIENCE!!! Here i am 5th time in a row and i know i'm pregnant again! Test still saying no, but thats b/c i'm not being very patient, you just ALWAYS wanna know...LOL...but only few know right away. So if you're certain you have all the symptoms and well you just know in your gut you are just be patient and time will tell. Others signs to look for is a metal taste in your mouth or if you smoke or drink you'll start noticing that those things start to make you not feel so well. If that happens, best advice is to STOP cuz you just might be. Hope this helped.

yes you can be pergnant because you  arnt reliable when it comes to taking your birth control as well as birth controls still not 100% and thats why you should use a condom.

as for your period....you could either be pregnant, or be late because of your missed pills

I have a crazy story.... well my last period was the 23rd of June.  I took a pregnancy test at the end of August just to rule out the prego thing.  It was negative.  I have noticed nothing of change.  Until now.  My boyfriend started talking about it and how I might be pregnant.  Now a million things are going through my head and I have a lot of anxiety.  I am going for a hpt to take in the morning.  And setting up an appointment with a Dr.  I am so scared that I might have screwed something up since I have let this go for so long.  I just thought the negative test was what I was looking for.  I guess I was wrong.  Wish me luck....I think.

most of the time they are not accurate before your period. your hcg levels are not high enough. if you have to wait 2 more weeks for your period..i would say your ovulating now. so when did you have sex.

your last period was may 8th. and you have missed your period for june and you have not received your period for july yet

you would be a little over 7 weeks pregnant if you are pregnant you should have gotten a postive pregnancy test if you were pregnant by now.

get a blood test but doesnt seem like your pregnant. your hcg  levels should have been high enough for you to get a postive hpt.

there are a number of reasons why you might not be getting your period. if you get a negative blood test, talk to your doctor about what else could be going wrong

I'v taken 3 HPTs and all came back with a negative result. Now I'v had new symptoms that give me the feel that I have a vaginal infection like itchiness and alot of discharge in my vaginal area. I guess I am in the same boat as well.  I am 9 days late on my pd and that is not like me.  Normally very regular and have taken MANY hpt and all turned out neg.  Also went to the dr and got a blood test done.  There was a VERY low level of hcg and so it was also neg.  I went to the doc Monday (5 days ago) and still no pd.  I was told by several other women that it had happened to, that the BLOOD test can also be wrong.  Don't know if there are any more of you out there, but if all of your neg results actually resulted in pregnancy please let me know. I know the changes of me being pg are slim at this point but like I said, due for AF on 7-9 and it is not 7-18.  I just want to see if it is as "rare" as the docs are telling me and this is the best way to find out... word of mouth from ACTUAL people not just statistics.  All replies GREATLY appreciated.

Hi I had my last period April 30 of this year and am now 4 months late. Once I was one month late I knew something was wrong because I am never late. Well I took 3 home pregnancy tests all at different times thru June and July and even want to the health dept to take one and they were all negative. I want for my pap smear in July and she said all was normal. Now it is at the end of August and still worried. In april I weighed 101 lbs, July I weighed 111 lbs and as of yesterday Aug 18 I weighted 118 lbs and I had cut my eating back. No symptoms of being preganant. Well I met with a nurse yesterday to get back on my cycle and she had me take one more pregnany test to make sure and it was postive. I am 18 weeks Pregnant!!!

I was almost two weeks late with neg pg test results and it turned out that I was not pregnant.  I wanted it SOOO bad that I pretty much tricked my body into thinking that I was.  I would tell everyone here to relax and to wait.  Stress and emotions are very powerful and our bodies really like to play tricks on us when we want something bad enough. I have been getting cramps in my lower stomach like i am getting my period but still havent got it. Hi All

I am also new to this forum I aM 29 and have been TTC for the last 3 years had a regular cycle of 26 days for the last 3 years. I was on the implant before that now I am 8 days late and have done at least 4 tests all negative. I am moody as hell. Not sleeping very well and feel like a truck has rolled over me. My breasts feel and look bigger I am bloated and I just dont know what to do. My husband does not think I can be pregnant because of all the negative tests and I dont know if I have just wanted it so much for so long that I am just fooling myself. I had all the general fertility tests in the past and they came back normal so I just dont know anyone out there in the same position? Any advices would be so appreciated.

Well I guess in the end we should all just try to listen to our bodies & not so much the pregnancy tests!!! I know how hard it is to wait, but sometimes that is just what you have to do unfortnately!!! I too am waiting. I am 4 days late & am having many pregnancy symptoms. I have taken 2 HPT tests & a blood test & all came out negative. I had a tubal pregnancy from an IUD & had it removed August 12th, 2009. The doctor said he was sure that I would be pregnant again in a couple of months. When I had the blood test & it said negative, the doctor's office said that it could be too early. They said that sometimes you have to be atleast a week late before the HCG levels will show up. So I am waiting until Monday to take another one & really hope I am pregnant. I have a 9 year old lil boy & when I was pregnant with him I took HPT pregnancy tests all the way up until I was over 2 weeks late & they all said negative. After being a month late I went to the Health Dept. & found out that I was 8 weeks pregant!!! So I know from experience that it is definitley possible to have a false positive...still doesn't make the waiting any easier!!! Hope everybody gets what they are wanting & the results come soon!!! A pregnancy test is meant to be taken 4 weeks after your missed period. This is because the pregnancy hormone is detectable 4 weeks from conceiving. In all truth, it's most detectable, in my opinion 6-8 weeks from conceiving. You need to be taking a pregnancy test 4 weeks from your missed period, that's after at least one month. Even still, because every woman is different, the hormone may not show until about 6-8 weeks when it is most potent.

Hi everyone just an update. I had a blood test today and it also came back negative so 11 days late and apparently not pregnant I dont know what is wrong or how to feel. Very disappointed. Any ideas?

Hi, I am 20 years old and im kind of going thru the same thing, and my boyfriend and i are sexually active, Yes we are trying to conceive. I have not had a period in 3 months, but my spotting started last month on September 10 (which is the day my Period usually starts). It started out as light Red and that only lasted for 30 Min at the most and for the next 2 days it was brownish in color, Two weeks later that same month It happened again but only for 1 day. So I started thinking maybe i was pregnat, and now its October and i spotted again on the 10 (which is the day my period usually starts) it lasted for about 30 Min and was Brownish in color also. i Have been having lower stomach pains i've taken 2 At home test and both came back negative, I also went to get tested for STD's and I have Nothing, Neither does he I also got tested for other things and everything was fine.. What could i do i seem to have tried everything and i have no idea whats going on this has never happened before.

sorry to say you talk some rubbish.....you say a pregnancy test is ment to be taken 4 weeks after a missed period because it is ment to be detected 4 weeks after concieving? missed period and concieving are two different things. concieving is accutully getting pregnant, egg fertilising and all that, not missing your period, before you give people false information research what you are saying.

Hi my husband are TTC and I am 17 days late. I have had 3 positive at home tests I have been to my doc twice now and both of their urine tests came back negative. I am supposed to wait until Nov 2 and take another home test and go for a blood test on the 3rd. I am so confused..... I have 2 sons and I am feeling the same symptoms that I did when I was preg with them except for the constant morning sickness. I am only nauseas sometimes. I am really hoping the doc is wrong.
