Cramps that are down right horrible

My Gyno/OB has put me on a new birth control, this is the 3rd month of taking, Alesse. The first two months she didn't want me to have a period due to migraines and trying to get them under control. Only because i was making 3 or 4 trips to the ER due to migraines around that time of month. So i went the first 2 months with out a period, and now month 3 i'm suppose to have one. I'm cramping so bad that Midol isn't working and she perscribed IB Profin 800 (spelling) and their not working. I need some relief. I've tried a heating pad and it didn't work either. any ideas on how to get some relief from these horrible cramps?

I'm not really sure why your doctor would put you on birth control to help control the migraines.  Birth control actually makes them worse.  I tried a few things you are on and those didn't work for me.  Do you know the signs for when was is coming on?  I take imitrex at the first sign of a migraine and lay down in a dark room for about 20 minutes and it goes away.  I reccommend you ask your doctor for a prescription it is the best one out there.

Yes I had migraines before the birth control, thats why i'm on it. I had them the week before my period the week during and a few days after it ended. It got to the point where i had visited the er 5 days out of the week for shots for a little relief which didn't help. I'm on Alesse, Inderal, Topomax, HCZT, Flexril, Tramodal. I think thats it there may be more that i can't think of right now. Due to all the meds i've recently started i've gained 35 pounds in 2 weeks. I feel like a blimp, and so despressed from it on top of that.

The best thing you can buy at the drug store is aleeve.  Take 1 or 2 at the 1st sign of pain.  Also it helps me sometimes if I lay in a hot bath.  I was also getting migraines from period while on birth control.  Did you get migraines before you were on birth control?  Becuase for me it made it worse.  Do you take any medicine for them?  I take imitrex and it works good for me.

She might prescribe hydrocodone for you; check with her.  It's a good painkiller (I have been prescribed it after dental surgery).  Good luck!
