Doctor said I have BV but I am still itching and irritated, whats wrong?

I went and saw my OB last week who gave me a pap and the results came back I had BV (which I had suspected, that or a yeast infection). He put me on 5 days of antibiotics and it seemed to clear somewhat but never completely. Well I called the nurse yesterday to see if I need more antibiotics and she said no, that it was probably a yeast infection now (because of the antibiotics) and that I should treat it as such. Well before all this I had already treated my self for a yeast infection and it never fully went away. I am so tired of not knowing specfically what I am treating. I can't see the OB again because my insurance wont cover it and I don't have the money. Also I should mention when on the antibiotics I didn't have discharge. Now I do...
My question is, has anybody experienced anything like this? Did you have BV and it turned into a yeast infection? Or did you have BV take the antibiotics, and it never fully went away? I am so sick of this its been going on for a month now and I just want it to end. :/
Any help or advise is appreciated. Just please don't tell me to go see the doctor. I can't.

I can't think of anything that recently changed. I started having sex again almost 3 months ago and this has been going on for only 1 month. I also stopped breast feeding almost 3 months ago. Again this has only been going on for 1 month. There was only one incident when the sex was painful, since then it hasn't hurt, yet...
However, now that I think about it. He had started using this new brand of condoms (not Trogan) and I am pretty sure that is when all this started. But thats reaching... what are the chance the condom is actually messing everything up?
No I don't usually get itchy 2 weeks before my period. The only other time I had a YI was when I was preg. I thought I did a couple of weeks ago but then when I finally saw the doctor he said it was BV. (I had treated myself with monistat, not that it made a difference.) And now its all over again.
TMI I don't want to gross anybody out. But I also have slight pressure in the buttox's region if you get what I am saying. Also a slight itch. I didn't think it was nothing and might have to do with whatever was going on with the BV or YI.
I can't see my doc again, no insurance, and its driving me crazy.

Hi  Do you get itchy about 2 weeks before your period? if yes it could be cytolitic vaginosis or Lactobacillosis which itch like thrush and cause painful sex.
If it is thrush you need to know which type it is and its sensitivities as there are more than one type and not all types have the same treatment.
If BV has come straight back it will be because you are causing it.  if you look down a microscope you will see little black rods called lactobacilli all women have these and they have 3 jobs - to look after skin cells, produce hydrogen peroxide to keep bad bacteria out and lactic acid to keep pH level at 4.5.
If you use shampoo and showergel with a high pH or sperm or blood or water or lube etc the high pH changes the vagina eco system and the lactobacilli die off.  Then bad bacteria dominates.  Thats all BV is so you have to think what has recently changed and stop using/doing it.
Hope it helps.

I actually went and got one of the screening kits and it came back the lowest it could be. So it probably is a yeast infection since I have the burning (not so much itching). I don't think its a UTI because I was on antibiotics and my OB's nurse seemed to think it'd of been a YI anyway. I hate this though. I never had issues with YI or BV until I got pregnant (YI) and BV (not long after having sex again and having an IUD this time, bad mix?). Going to see if I can get the pill or a stronger creme (Monistat doesn't really work for me much...). What ***** is I don't care to much to have sex right now... last time I didn't know I had a YI I had sex and it hurt so bad. :(

Hello,

Yes, I've had both infections that were treated and never fully went away - it is annoying!  Ok, so if you can't go back to the doctor right now, here's what I would do - Vagisil makes an over the counter screening kit that tells if you have a yeast infection, BV, or something more serious such as an STD that you would need to see a doctor for.  You could take the test and try using over the counter meds to treat whatever it says you have, if anything.  It's always taken me over 5 days, even over a week, to get over both.  Good luck to you!
