Facial hair and more

I am really worried. I am 19. I have all of a sudden gotten a lot of hair on my chin and sides of my face. I have also become prone to acne all of a sudden. I keep missing periods or they are late. When they do come, it is always very heavy and painful. My doctor ran a lot of hormonal tests and they came back fine. Does anyone know what is going on with me? Thanks.

I've had very similar symptoms, and I'm taking Metformin/Glucophage.  I have a few black hairs near my jawline, and the fine white hairs, acne all throughout my 20s, weight gain in my tummy area, periods that are starting a few days earlier than the month before, symptoms like that.  My DHEA level is very high, 356, and my testosterone level has been high.  My Dr. has me taking 500 mg of the Metformin twice a day, that's the pill type 2 diabetics take.

My mother also had a very difficult time conceiving me, and when she had her hystorectomy, the Dr. said one ovary was dried up.

Check back with another Dr. to see about your DHEA levels.

Good Luck!

You have THREE of the symptoms of PCOS... late or missing periods, hair under your chin, and acne...

I think you need a second opinion too.

hi i know for a fact that the extra hair on the face has to do with extra hormones every woman in my family has that including me and i talked to a dr about it and they told me it was just from having some kind of hormone i would try a different dr/lab! best of luck

Go to an endocrinologist. I have PCOS myself. My hormone levels are fine...they also did an ultrasound and I have no cysts. The way it's been explained to me is that I am borderline insulin resistant. It's very possible to have PCOS and have only one symptom.
