Flesh in Period but had no sex

I had flesh in my period once, and I am sure that I had no sex. Is this normal to have flesh in your period? Or is there something wrong with my menstrual cycle?

I've had these problems since I was about 11 (and I'm 25 now). When first started, I had my period monthly but it was always very heavy and alwasy followed huge blood clots (bigger than quarters) and the more that I passed, the more that I bled. Then as I started to get older, the periods got fewer and fewer apart until all of a sudden - they stopped all together. This was when I was 17. After 4 years of not menstruating at all, my body decided to shed itself and I had a heavy almost ready to kill me period. After that, I had my period about every 7 or 8 months, each time getting worse and worse - hospitalizing me. Last February I saw a doctor who decided to put me on hormone treatments, seeing as I have a tumor on my pituitary gland. I take these treatments for 10 days out of the month. At first, my period lasted almost a month and I stayed in bed. Now, after 9 months my period is regular and doesn't really bother me (besides the obvious cramping and pmsing).. but today this period is different. My clots aren't freakishly huge like usual.. instead they are teenie tiny, about the size of a dot that you would make with a pen tapping a piece of paper, yet there is hundreds of them. My question is, could this just be the lining of my uterus?

I have several large clots every month (at least quarter-sized), but I also have endometriosis and a cyst, and just came off lupron about 6 months ago.

During your period you shed both the lining of the uterus along with the blood, and if the loss is heavy sometimes blood clots of varying sizes.  I think this is probably the lining of the uterus that you are seeing, but if you are worried ask the practice nurse at your GP surgery.

Skin? I've never heard of that. Clots of menstrual fluid are very normal, though.

yes, posters are right. i'm sure you passed a clot during your period and it does look like flesh. just keep in mind that clots larger than a quarter may be of concern. i should listen to my own advice..i just passed one about the size of 2 quarters yesterday. not sure what it could mean but i know my period just started and its heavy right now.

I was in the middle of my period and I woke in the middle of the night to incredible pain, like 3 times worse than normal cramping, and when I went to the toilet there was a huge chunk when i wiped, it was fleshy and about 4cm x 8cm. i went to the doc the next day and she did a preggers test as a precaution (thinking it mite have been a miscarriage), which turned out negative. she explained to me that it was indeed probably a piece of the lining of the uterus coming away. Nothing to worry about and that was around 2 yrs ago. Had normal periods since then and i am now 38 wks pregnant, so no long term effects but if you are worried or it happens again you should see your doctor.
