i thought u couldn't tan while u were pregnant???????
i'm a student at a cosmotalogy school and was exposed to all chemicals you could think of in a salon the whole time i was pregant and even got my hair colored every month from 4 to 9 and my son is fine. the chemicals only go skin deep, and the smell can't effect the baby because it surrounded in water
oh yeah the color thing is right.. I'm breastfeeding and my color STILL is funky... just realy orangy sometimes
Yes, the hormones CAN affect the colour, but the product itself is not harmful. Way back in the day, there was some concern that SOME colours (I believe it was shades in black only) were hazardous but this proven to be false. Since then, women have been paranoid about colouring.
At any rate, your colourist can take precautions anyway - they don't have to put the dye on your scalp, they can use a brush and do it carefully if you're worried. Heaven forfend we should walk around with our roots showing!
I know u didn't ask about a perm, but theres a chance w/ perms (even today) that they won't take good b/c of the hormones (this includes while bfing too) so I wouldn't waste my $$$$$$ on a perm til I had my hormones back on tract. Plus the stylist probably won't give u your $$$ back if it doesn't wk.
I was told not to because the color wouldn't come out right. Of course that was 11 years ago and things change. My friend collored her's up till she delivered. Her hair was fine. Looked great while she was pushin!
Now, I have been one of those paranoid people who will not dye my hair because of things I have researched. I haven't dyed my hair in the past two years, and I am one of those unfortunate souls who started graying at 20 something. So you can imagine how lovely I look these days... I've read that consistent usage of the chemicals can cause problems and high lighting is better, because it doesn't directly get applied to the scalp. If I am wrong, please tell me and I'll be calling my hair dresser tomorrow for a younger look!
Just keep the room ventaliated. Through my pregnancy, I hung out in the salon, got medi's and pedis, I was in the tanning booth, I got my hair done... Hoenstly, the only thing that can he harmful are the fumes.. If you wanted you could wear a breahting mask.
The myth that when your hair gets dyed, the chemacles seep into your skin,.... yadda yadda is so over rated.
I do hair & we tell clients to wait using chemicals til after the 1st trim. & not have any color applied directly to scalp during the whole time of pg. Using a cap should be fine. :)(According to the testing being done) I never color my hair during pg just bc I'm a wuss while pg :) LOL
I've colored my hair twice now and will be going for a touch up in a couple of weeks. I'm 21 weeks. There is nothing in hair color today that can harm the baby. And yes, my ob approved it.
my OB and my midwife always said no... and since I havent seen it as a necessity (even though my hair has looked like ****. haha) I havent done it
that said, a lot of pregnant woman DO get it done and their drs say its ok. I think they just are not 100% certain
If you do it then I would not do it against the scalp.. and maybe just do higlights or something.
