I have noticed that for the last couple of months, I get a horrible headache after my husband and I are intimate.  Sometimes, the headache persists throughout the following day.  What is going on??

Hello,
Orgasmic headaches usually present as a severe pain during orgasm. Sometimes it can be due to serious neurological causes like intracranial space occupying lesions. So my advice is to consult a neurologist and get  CT scan head done to rule out any other neurological cause.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thank you very much. Would you have any idea why I am just recently experiencing this? It never happened to me before a couple of months ago.

Hello,
Sexual activity is an exertional activity which can cause exertional or sexual headache. This type of headache can occur during intercourse (preorgasmic headache) or during orgasm (orgasmic headache). Preorgasmic headache typically appears as a dull ache in the head and neck that slowly intensifies with sexual excitement. Orgasmic headaches usually present as a severe pain during orgasm.
I suggest you a neurologist’s examination and CT head to rule out these causes.
