When I found out I was pregnant I was told I was 9 weeks, when I went for my ultrasound my baby measured to be 8 weeks and 3 days. I just ovulated later than we thought, plus they count from the last menstral period. Four weeks is kind of young I think to hear the heartbeat. My friend had an u/s done at 3 weeks and couldnt hear the heartbeat. She now has a healthy 8 old. I would just go back in 2 weeks and have them do another u/s. Also when they do the doppler dont stress out if you cant hear the heartbeat. Its usually done somewhere around 12 weeks. When I went for mine at 12 weeks they couldnt hear the heartbeat at all, so I had an u/s done and everything was fine. My Dr said it was perfectly normal and that it was a 50/50 chance this early, but by 16 weeks when I went back for my checkup they could defiantely hear it. Best of Luck! Try not to stress to much!! We couldn't hear the heartbeat with my first until 11 weeks, but everything was fine. 4-5 weeks is still a little early. I know that's something you're anticipating and it's very exciting. Don't stress too much and congrats!
Not finding a heartbeat this early is not uncommon. At your next ultrasound, in two weeks, they should be able to detect it. I assume you'll have an ultrasound at that appointment because you can't hear a baby's heartbeat with a Doppler until about 12 weeks.
Try not to stress about it; I don't think you have any reason to worry at this point. Good luck!!
