Heavy Cycle

This is a great site and I have found a wealth of information here already! I came here searching for someone who may have experienced similar symptoms. I have been having heavier-than-normal periods for months now. Last month I spotted right after my period for several days. This last period wasn't unusally heavy, but I did spot for several days after. When the spotting stopped, my breasts got really sore (AFTER my period) and I got really, really moody and emotional. I was thinking it was probably hormonal and I went to see a doctor day before yesterday. She did a complete physical and pap, so I'm waiting on the results. I have also noticed an unusual amount of mucus-like discharge lately. Then, today, I started spotting again, this time it was mucus with blood. I'm really worried now that it could be something besides hormones. The fact that I NEVER spot BETWEEN periods is what makes this a little alarming. I'm 36 and have had 5 normal pregnancies, the last one 11 years ago. And I had my tubes tied after the last one. Am I too young for pre-menopausal symptoms? Could this be a sign of cervical cancer? Could this be symptoms of a prolapse? I have lots of questions...just hoping someone can help. Thank you so much!

Thank you both so much for responding. I looked up adenomyosis and it seems to fit, except for the pain. I'm not experiencing any unusual pain at all. It turns out the spotting I was experiencing on Friday was actually my period starting again. It has only been a couple of weeks since the last one, and I'm usually very regular. It has been heavy since Saturday and seems to be letting up today. The sore breasts were probably PMS symptoms? I'm still waiting on results from the tests. I'll keep you posted. By the way, what is BCP?

Just noticed your post, I have the exact same thing, Dr. said it is adenomyosis, a form of endometriosis that grows in the inside of the uterus. Check it out and keep us informed! I am now on the BCP for it and it is working wonders!!!I feel much better and I am not afraid to leave the house.

Unfortunately, I have no personal experience/advise to offer. I just wanted to let you know that I would be thinking about you. Please let us know when you get the results from today. Best wishes!
