pink and brown discharge

I am 32 weeks pregnant and i had to go to the er last night because i thought i was leaking amniotic fluid. They did all kinds of tests on me including a pap smear. Now im leaking a pink and light/dark brownish discharge along with having minor pains on the sides of my stomach. They didnt tell me that it would cause me to bleed or anything should i go back to the er?

that is more than likey your mucus plug.  When a women loses her mucus plug it doesn't really determine how quickly labor will come.  For some women it may be a few weeks before anything happens, and for others it may happen that same day.  For my first i went to pee and real light blood came out and a few hours later it was time to go to the hospital.  With my son it was different i had the mucus discharge what your explaining and i leaked that for a week or two before it was time.  However, with my son i did not have any cramps or pain with the discharge.  So it maybe getting very close for you.  Just keep an eye on how far apart your cramps (contractions) are, for this is a very important question the hospital or doctor will ask you. If you're getting them every 5minutes then you should head to the hospital right away!

Vaginal bleeding after exams and test are common because of irritation.  If it continues or becomes heavier go back.  Mines continued and I had a miscarriage, but that was a first tri-mester pregnancy so dont let this scare you.
