Irregular and very long menstrual cycle.

I'm 18 and I've noticed my menstrual cycles are *extremely* long. Last month is the longest: 48 days. I know this isn't that alarming but they are really changeable. An extreme example is at the beginning of this year, it went from 34 days to 45 days then back to 34 days.
I should probably mention I went off the pill in September. I'm also prone to very bad period cramps. Anyway, should I be concerned/go to the doctor? I tried Googling but they all say different things. Thank you!! :)

Hi, I would advise you to see a Gynaecologist and to get an ultrasound if you are worried. You may be suffering from endometriosis in which cells from the lining of the uterus (endometrium) appear and flourish outside the uterine cavity, most commonly on the ovaries. This can cause irregular periods, heavy periods, and severe cramping. See your doctor for further advice.

Thanks for the reply! My periods aren't that heavy though, or any heavier than they used to be. If it's a hormonal imbalance do you think it'll just go back to normal over time?

Yes plz go to the doctor. You most likely have an hormonal imbalence due to the birthcontroll of coming off of it. When i have that problem with periods. It sometimes last over a month. I had to go to er bc i bled to much blood. I became enamic.. probably not spelled rite. Its very important for a woman to keep track of her monthly periods. And how heavy they r and everything.
