Irregular periods

I'm 16 and a half and I still have irregular periods. I had my first period in the 6th grade and it's still irregular. I can go two months with my period but then have the following two months without it, I once went without a period for four months. All my friends have monthly periods and I don't know what's wrong or what I should do to fix it.
