Itching

For the last few weeks I have had itching in my hands and feet under the skin.  It is not constant itching but extremely uncomfortable.  Not painful.  Just drives me crazy!!  It is under the skin.  No rash.  Involves the bottom of my feet and my toes, and the palm of my hands and around the pointer finger and the thumb.  I've tried itching creams to no avail and the only relief seems to come using benadryl.  I am 55, going through menopause, but toward the end of it I hope.  Started when I was 52.  Not having hot flashes at this time.  This does seem to be worse in late afternoon and night.  I cannot think of anything different in my use of soap, detergent, lotions or any foods.
If this isn't the correct place to post this question please let me know and I'll post in another section.
Thank you,
Insanely itching...

I have the exact problem. Mine only happens at bedtime and in the middle of the night. Same places!!! I take Nyquil every night to keep it from waking me up. Im 31 & it started about 5 months ago and it happens every night. I dont dare skip my nyqill. I have no idea what it is but im so sick of it and wished I had a cure.

I HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS & HAVE TRIED SCRATCHING W/A HARD BRISTLED HAIRBRUSH, BUT MY MASSAGE THERAPIST SAYS NOT TO SCRATCH.  I GUESS IT CAN CAUSE NERVE DAMAGE.  I GET UP AND TAKE AN ALEVE OR ADVIL & IT SEEMS TO HELP.  SOME PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME IT CAN BE A SYMPTOM OF DIABETES, LIVER OR KIDNEY DISEASE, OR THYROID PROBLEMS.  I DO HAVE LOW THYROID & AN AUTO IMMUNE DISEASE CALLED GRANULOMA ANNULARE, SO DON'T KNOW IF IT IS RELATED.  HAVEN'T TALKED TO A DR. ABOUT IT YET??????
