Large dermoid cyst

Hi everyone. I'm new here and I guess I'm looking to talk to some people who understand what I'm going through. Im 30 years old and A lite over a week ago I started having intense abdominal pain out of nowhere. Before I knew it was I was nauseous and vomiting. The only position that gave slight relief was sitting up and leaning forward. This lasted all night and into the next day so I went to the ER when I couldn't take it anymore. They did a pelvic and vaginal ultrasound and a CT scan. They found a large dermoid cyst on my ovary, 13 x 9 x 7.5 cm. Funny thing was the ultrasound said it was on the right, but CT said left. The pain was mainly on my left.  They saw fat and calcification in the form of a tooth on the ct scan consistent with a dermoid.

I left the hospital with a vicodin prescription and went to see my GP the next day.  She referred me to an OBGYN and I saw him yesterday. The pain subsided a day or so after my hospital visit and I feel basically normal now except that I am obsessively anxious about it being cancer. Even though I know 98% are benign I'm terrified. I cant stop googling and am just freaking out!  The doc had me do a CA 125 blood test and I don't know the results yet and they're working on scheduling surgery to remove it.

Basically I'm a nervous wreck!  I am hoping there are people out there who have has similar experiences and can let me know how it went for them. I think i just need to talk to some people who get it. Thanks!

Thank you for your response. I believe the pain I had was related to the large dermoid cyst they found. The CT scan stated there was no sign of pancreatitis.

My CA 125 and HCG  test results came back and everything was within normal range.  I will be having surgery to remove it in a couple weeks. I'm still pretty scared because I know the blood tests are not conclusive, but I hope it will be ok.

Thanks,
Jenna

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
A deep, boring, upper abdominal pain often radiating to the back is the most typical feature of chronic pancreatitis. The pain may be partially relieved by sitting upright and leaning forward and is frequently exacerbated by eating meals.
