Light greenish yellow discharge??

Okay so lately I feel as though my discharges are on the heavier side and it bothers me because I know I'm wet. And I'm about to start my period so I thought to be on the safe side I'd use a tampon, but when I pulled it out I guess it was too soon so there was no blood but there was a light greenish yellow discharge on the side, it wasn't a lot. So does that mean I have an infection of some sort?? Is that why my discharges might be thick? I mean I feel no pain when I pee, I haven't felt like I'm itchy down there although maybe I did once but nothing crazy, I have no back pains or cramps. I'm just really confused. I will forsure be going to the doctor ASAP but just wanted someone's opinion so I don't go crazy.

Have you been having sex with a new partner?
I have experienced this before, but mine had a smell to it also that was very strong. I went to the doctor and was told that I have clymida. They said it was not a big deal they gave my two very strong antibiotics that got rid of it. But I did learn to be very careful from who I slept with. That was what I felt a warning sign in my life to be more careful even though I have a small number.
Also it could just be because your period is about to happen, sometimes it can be as simple as hormones.
