I was not meaning to be a know-it-all. I'm sorry if I came across that way. My main thing was pointing out that birth control pills are not linked to infertility and you were strongly implying it was. I wanted her to have both sides to consider.
Again, I apologize for coming across in a manner I did not intend.
Thank you very much girls. It has helped a lot, i'll definitely check with my doctor. :)
Correction to the know it all above...i never said it was a deff that any of it would happen i said there are many risks and yes many are linked. I have several doctors in my family so im terribly sorry that i do actually know what im talking about and i said this is what happened to ME. Never said it would happen to her so pipe down.
I feel this post is filled with at least some misinformation. There is currently no proven link between birth control pills and infertility. Cysts are quite common in women, and all it takes is an egg not properly released during ovulation. You should not be ovulating on the pill. The pill is actually often prescribed to try to shrink these cysts so an individual doesn't require surgery. I am sorry you experienced clots, which are admittedly a possible side effect made more likely if a person smokes. Inactivity can help perpetuate this as well.
Some pills simply carry more risks than others, too. For example, I wouldn't chance it with Yaz or Yazmin as I've had a friend who it caused a pituitary cyst in and she has weight issues because of it as well as many other problems. Based on what I learned in pharmacology class, I wouldn't try anything younger than 10 years on the market either.
My experiences have been fine and I have been on the pill since 2009 for my heavy cycles and the debilitating symptoms my periods gave me. I could not function the first three or so days so I asked for it. I've also experienced no blood clots. I'm on Microgestin. I had a cyst, but that was likely there before I was on birth control due to the size and how short an amount of time I had been on the pill when it was found. No cysts since and I have been screened. I am fully expecting any problems I may have conceiving in the future to be related to my thyroid, which is already exhibiting signs it may be developing hyperthyroidism, which runs in my family, and is being monitored because of that.
Hello hun, u can go to your gyno and explain this to them. They will most likely put you on birth control especially if u are sexually active. There are different options such as the pill, the shot, the patch, mirena etc. but please keep in mind though there are many risks. I began taking the pill in sept. 2011 and got off in april 2012 to try n have a baby with my fiance. While on the pill i did not know how much damage it actually did until a year of trying for a baby with my fiance and not concieving. I just started treatments to help us try n get pregnant. While on it i developed blood clots as well as very bad ovarian cysts that landed me in the hospital 4 times in the past year and half. It also caused me to not ovulate every month. So in the long run u do take a chance on not being able to concieve in the future. Im not trying to scare u hun but im not going to sit here n lie to u and say yes go on it nothing will happen blah blah blah. I would rather tell u what ive fone through then not tell u. Talk this over with your gyno and remeber no woman wants her period but unfortunately we all have to deal with it. Good luck and hope this helped
Usually birth control pills are used for this, although there are risks such as blood clots.
