I think if the bowels are involved there is usually a general surgeon on staff just in case.
I have endometriosis and I had previous bowel surgery and he said because of scar tissue they needed a GS on staff just in case of internal bleeding.
Also to note - I have urine retention issues (went to urologist) and have to self catheter 4 to 6 times/day. I am scheduled to have a urodynamics test in October. The urologist did not see a cystocele in his exam in the office. But, I do have a grade 2 rectocele, but the doctors seem to "ignore" this as a non issue (colon rectal specialist, urologist and gynecologist) although it causes me great discomfort - vaginal pressure, constipation, pain with intercourse, etc.
Again, any advice is greatly appreciated!
