MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE

My period is very regular (every 30 days, last for a week). I just got married on April 25th, and I was supposed to have my period around that time. I got the prescription from the doctor to take 10mg/day of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE. However, since I started taking the medicine too late, 2 days after I took the medicine, I still had my period, so I stopped taking it. On May 13th, I had unprotected sex. My question is: is it safe to get pregnant within a month after taking 20mg of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE? Many thanks!

Ah. I've never heard of it actually delaying a period. I've read it actually is supposed to start them.

Thanks for replying! The reason why I took the medicine was to postpone my period so that I wouldnt have it during the wedding ceremony. But it didn't work because I started taking it too late (I was supposed to start taking it about 5 days before my period, but I started 2 days before my period).

I think it would depend on the reason why you're actually taking it. I know it's used for amenorrhea and endometriosis, and that if you do become pregnant on it you need to stop immediately. Your doctor would be the only one who could really give you the answers you need since he's the one who prescribed it.

I am not sure about the answer to this but I think you should definitely talk to your doctor about the possibilities. Good luck on trying to conceive!
