Merina IUD and Cramps

I am a 37 y/o woman who has had no children.  I had the Merina IUD inserted a week ago and I am still experiencing heavy cramping and spotting.  I have been told by my OB/GYN that the Merina is safe for women who have never had a child and that these symptoms will subside. Does anyone out there use the Merina who has not had children?  If so, what are your experiences with it?

i just got my iud on the 21st and I've also never had children, it was pretty uncomfortable during the insertion and the after cramping was bad. However I only had light spotting the first day and moderate cramping. However, i have engagedd in sexual intercourse on the 23rd  and it was no problem, although the next day i did have uterine cramping. I hope this helps you decide.

Wow, feels nice to not feel alone. I have had Mirena for about a month and still have cramping rather often and longer period followed with spotting. I have pain during and after sex and spotting too, any orgasm makes the cramping later much worse. Not sure what to do. This is the last option of birth control for me becuase I don't tolerate the hormone pills at all. I have had a normal period for the first time in a year yet the cramping doesn't go away. I am getting worried that this IUD will not work for me either. I have never had a kid, but am told that that is not an issue with iuds anymore. Any one have helpful questions I could ask my Dr?

I just got my Mirena inserted today, was a removal/replacement. My first time getting mirena I just about passed out and it was insanely painful. This time around I was more relaxed breathed through it and then after oddly enough I walked for about 40 minutes, then went to kickboxing - I fidnthe exercise really helps keep off the cramps.

I had the Marina fitted on the 14/03/12, and it was the most pain i have ever felt in that area! i'm 18 and have no children. I nearly passed out during the procedure however, 15minutes after it was done i was ok to walk home with my partner, in a lot of pain but was able to walk. its nearly been a week now and the pain has been on and off worse that period pain (and i do suffer from them badly as it was) but when i get the cramps i cant walk, and sometimes it acually feels like the cramps are moving down the sides of my vagina which is really horrible. When the Family Planning Nurse done the procedure she noticed that i had a slanted womb! which is worrying me now due to the pain that i am receiving. I have been consipated, and have been suffering hot and cold sweats. im spotting a little bit which does not bother me, its the cramps that i dont think i can deal with anymore!

Is it worth getting it looked at or is this normal?
