Mirena IUD pregnancy symptoms

Hi guys!  I had a mirena inserted in march 06, i bleed for 2mths straight and then stopped, and got a normal period a month later.  I am 3weeks over due for my period, im always tired, frequent urination, weight gain (eating heaps)...and feeling sick like i want to vomit.  I have also had problems with my bowels (which is common in my pregnancies).  I have three children already oldest is 3 and the young 8mths.  I have got pregnant on the pill, the implant (in the arm)...and im scared im pregnant again.  I had a home preg test which came up neg, then a week later it came up lightly positive.  Just to make sure i took another one three days later and it came up neg.....what is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love Rosalind

I had Mirena for 5 years after I had my 8yr old and I had alot of the same symptoms as you. I fortunately did not get pregnant in 5 years and did not use any other form of bc. My second go round I was not so lucky. I did not get pregnant but went through some serious depression issues. After having it removed I was fine and shortly after got pregnant with my 2nd son. He is now almost a year and I had the Mirena put back in after be convinced by my OB. The last few months my period has stopped which I am hoping is bc of the IUD but not 100% since lately I feel pregnant again. After doing some research I know it is possible but very unlikely. I would take a test for peace of mind but I think the chances are slim. Well thats what I am telling myself :) Good luck to you hun

Hi i have a 2 year old son and a soon to be 3 month old daughter. After i had my son i got the Mirena put in. A couple months after i got it put in i swore i was pregnant!! It felt like i was feeling little tiny kicks through out the day, and i was feeling sick.. i didn't tell anybody, i thought i was just going crazy from the stress of being a new teen mother. I took a hpt and it came out negative. After a couple more months i started getting cysts, which hurt really bad so i got the mirena taken out, and i went back on the pill. Even after getting pregnancy tests done i was still thinking i was pregnant, so i stopped taking my pill because if i was pregnant i didn't want to harm the baby. Well because of me not taking the pill i got pregnant when my son was a year old.  After i had my daughter i told my dr i wanted my tubes tied, i dont want anymore children, and im in a commited relationship. He didn't want to do it because how young i am, so i told im i'd try the mirena again. It's been a month with mirena, and the past few days ive been feeling pregnant, flutters in my stomach, cramping, nausea, hungry but cant eat, and the other day i swore my boob was having some leakage, i was wearing a white tshirt with no bra, and i looked in the mirror and there was a spot where it had looked like i lactated. I really hope im not pregnant because i really dont want any more children. I have a boy and a girl and that's all ineed. Im going to get a hpt and see what happens, but if theese pregnancy symptoms dont go away im taking my mirena out and telling my dr to tie my tubes. i dont like feeling pregnant, especially when im not.

Omg i feel the same way! although i did not get the mirana iud for heavy periods, i needed a birth control that i didnt have to remember taking everyday. For the first year i did not have a period at all. then after i quit nursing my daughter a few months later the periods started. They were very light and not bothersome. i have had it for 2 years now and also have gained weight. I feel pregnant, i am moody, always hungary, and TIRED. and my stomach looks like i am 3 months pregnant. I take home pregnancy tests and they are negetive. i dont  get it. I thought it was just me but i guess it might be the iud. I have even been to the docotor because my breast feel like they will burst and i want to punch anyone who might accidentally even bump them( it is so painful) my doc says well wear a tighter bra and of course hes a man so what the hell would he know about breast pain!!!! my husband does not want anymore kids so maybe its time for him to get fixed so i dnt have to have this thing in  my body anymore. If you have any advise i would love to hear it. PLEASE!!!

I've been experiencing the same symptoms. I switched from my regular IUD because i had heavy periods for 10 years with it so I was excited to hear i would have very light to no period.  It hurt to remove the old one and hurt even more to have the new one put in.  I remembered the other hurting during insertion but this one made me cramp for days.  Very painful cramps.  Since then i've experienced cramping, light periods after sex, sore nipples as if i just started nursing, acne, oily skin, and pregnancy symptoms like increased sense of smell. The more I read about others having the same symptoms the more i think i may switch back over to the regular, non hormonal, iud.

The IUD should be removed after 5 years. You should get it removed and either a new placed or remove permenantly.
