Dermoid cyst removal?

I had a dermoid cyst removed via laparoscopic surgery on October 8.  My post op appointment was on November 6.  Between then and my post op I felt bad and till today I still feel bad.  I find out at my post op that they took out my left ovary as well.  I am still walking a little hunched over and haven't been able to drive.  I am still uncomfortable and still can't wear regular clothes other than gowns.  I don't know what's wrong with me or unless I am just healing slower, cause yesterday, Monday, was 5 weeks post op and I have been getting rest and getting around the house but still have trouble.  I haven't been out of the house since my surgery, I don't have enough strength to even take a shower I have been taking sponge baths.  And I don't know what's going on.

I was interested to read your post.  I too had my right ovary removed by laparoscopic surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago.  Although I am able to shower (bathing difficult) I still feel pulling on the incision sites and bruising internally.  I tried to drive for the first time (after 2 weeks) and found this very uncomfortable - I will not be doing that again for quite sometime.  I have a swollen stomach and am worried how long this will take to go down.  Living in same very loose clothes - dread thought to wearing suits and tight skirts etc. for office.

I am due to go back to work middle of next week but feel tired and uncomfortable and although a desk job dread the thought of driving 18 miles return journey and just generally walking about (also feel I am slightly stooped to avoid pulling on stomach).  Am thinking of asking Dr. for another week off as this seems too soon to me.  I was originally adivsed I would be able to return to work after 2-3 weeks.

Would love to hear from anyone else going through/been through this.  (I was also sterilised by keyhole surgery at the same time).

Hope you are feeling better now.  I am sorry.  I just had my dermoid cyst removed via laparotomy on Nov 10 via emergency surgery.  My dermoid cyst ruptured and it was the size of a grapefruit.

This is now week 5 after my surgery, I have been up since week 1, HOWEVER, I didn't really regain all of my energy level even now.  The second week I had spotting incidents that tired me out.  Week 3 brought on severe gas/bloating/constipation that landed me in ER again on week 4.  I went back to my OB/GYN then.  Now at week 5, my period arrived and it is worse than I ever had so I am down on energy level again.

Hope you went back to doctor to find out if there was anything (painkillers, etc) the doctors can give you to alleviate your discomfort.  From all I read and hear, energy level takes a long time to return, even with laparoscopic surgery.

Good Luck!
