Inflammed Unterus from Miscarriage HCG Levels

I went for my check up today since I learned last week, that I had a miscarriage. The doctor told me that my uterus was still inflammed and my HCG levels had gone down from 3000 to 900 from my prevoius visit a week prior. He seemed concerned by his voice and look, but did not say anything about it. Just to come back in 10 days for another sonogram, blood test and exam. Is this normal? How long should it take my HCG levels to go back down after a miscarriage?

I'm sorry to hear about your M/C. I had one myself only a few months ago and it is devastating.

I am blessed with a wonderful doctor that explained everything to me. The amount of time that it takes for your HCG levels to go back to normal varies from woman to woman. Some only takes a week. Some take up to two months. The fact that it went from 3000 to 900 is actually a good thing. It took me about 3 weeks for my HCG levels to even out and about 6 weeks to get my period.

They always like you to come in after a miscarraige for a sonogram and a blood test just to make sure that everything is progressing as it should be. In some instances a miscarraige won't complete itself, so you have some remnants left that they might have to manually clean out. That sounds so bad...so clinical. A miscarraige is so much more than the medical part of it. I hope you are doing okay otherwise. I know I went through a really rough time. I would suggest you getting into a support group if you are having a hard time. God Bless!

The doctor did a pelvic exam and informed me that is was inflammed. I started spotting and called the doctor, he told me not to worry about it. Little did I know I had miscarried. I would see your OB to put your mind at ease. I hope that everything works out for you.
