Nipple discharge = normal?

I have a quick question- I've noticed the past two days some nipple discharge.  It really varies in consistency and color, last night it was thicker and a yellow / green and then later was clearish with white streaks, and it comes out on its own as opposed to needing to be expressed.  I wasn't sure if it was related to my last pregnancy which ended in miscarriage at 10 wks- I found out at 12- but that seemed much to early for that!  It scared me because breast cancer is an actual gene that is passed along in my family- my mom had it, her mom, her grandma, and 3 of her sisters... and it freaks me out!  Is nipple discharge ever normal?

Nipple discharge is really only "normal" when you are pregnant... and later on in your pregnancy for that matter.  Im sorry to hear about your MC, you should absolutely get that checked.  That could be a sign of a serious problem, I hope all works out well.

My first reaction was that it was probably related to the pregnancy that you lost (sorry to hear about that). I'm not sure about the cancer thing, but it seems to fit in with the pregnancy, despite that you were early in the first trimester. It could just be hormones associated with the pg. But if you are concerned it would not hurt to consult with a dr. Please keep us posted with your results?

I don't think nipple discharge is a common symptom of breast cancer - but rather a sign of infection in the milk duct. You'll need to get it checked out because you'll want it to stop but do NOT get worked up in thinking it's cancer - overwhelmingly, it probably is not.

I would call your dr. and have this evaluated.  Don't put it off, especially since breast cancer is strongly evident in your family history.  Breast cancer can be beat... best when caught early, and the 'peace of mind' that comes with a clean bill of health from the Dr. is worth a million.  Call the Dr. today.

I was flippin out last week because of this same exact thing! it's not mormal for it to do it on it's own, .If it does when you squeeze it. then ok.Women that have ever had children can do it for many years. women that haven't can too. it mainley comes before our monthly's. It's good to have it checked just in case. if yours was doing it while not squeezing it then i would definatly go to the doc. good luck!
