miscarring or not?????HELP!!!!!

my last period was on aug 20 and after that i starting doing those ovulation test well i had a surge on sept. 6th 7th and 8th. anyways im was suppose to start my period on sep 22nd. i took a pregnancy test on the tuesday before i was suppose to start and it was a very faint positive so i went to the doc and they said the same and to come back in a week but on sun sep 23rd i started my period and it has been very normal for me but i still went to the er just incase i was miscarring. my hcg leval was at 17.2 on mon. they said they think i am misscarring and to follow up with the doc so i have a apt on oct 5th. do yall think that everything could be ok or do yall think theres no way and im def. lossing this baby? someone tell me somthing im going crazy!!!!!

you can't fully rely on an hpt. especially this early. like annie said. you'd be better off getting blood drawn and checkin your hcg levels. if they have gone down, then you are probably miscarrying. if the levels aren't changing much (they should double every 48 hrs) and you're still bleeding then there is a posssibility of an ectopic pregnancy. the same thing happened to me back in mar.

i took a hpt last night and it was neg. so that means im prob definitly miscarrying right? or does that sometimes happen and everything can still be ok?

Without two hCG readings, to see if the numbers are going up or down, it is hard to say whether you are miscarrying or not.  Sometimes women do have bleeding in early pregnancy, but it is not super-common.  I'd call and see if you can just come in for another hCG blood draw sometime between now and when you are scheduled to see the doc.
