No periods?

Advice please!  Over the past year I have irregular periods.. I will get it one month and not get it for the next 2 - 3 months.  I stopped taking the pill to see if that was the problem, but needed to get back on it to avoid pregnancy concerns.  I am worried, since it doesn't seem normal at age 27 to be so irregular.  I also have low abdomen pain frequently. I went to my ob-gyn but he didn't seem to be too concerned.  Should i see another ob-gyn if this continues?  Would getting my blood tested to see if my hormone levels were okay a good idea?

I was on the pill for 15years and since going off I have not had a period (10 months).  My doctor does not seemed phased.  I have been going to him for 20 years and he has always been great-proactive.

Sara, Im so glad to know that Im not the only one.  Im 27, and I get my period once every 3-4 months. I sometimes have to take hormones in order to get it.  In between that time I have pelvic pain intermittently.  When i went to my doctor he sent me for blood work and everything was neg so now i have to go to test my thyroid but Im not sure why.  He also told me that i might want to start thinking about whether i want to have kids and i was so upset about the situation that i never asked questions.  If not too personal, do you have painful intercourse?  I often do. I would really like to resolve this problem but i don't know where to go from here.  My husband and i were trying to have kids for months and nothing ever happened and i worry that this is going to continue to be a problem for me.

COULD YOU BE GOING THROUGH EARLY PREMENEPAUSAL?

That would be a very good idea to get blood work done.  If your current obgyn does not think it is imperative.  then i suggest changing.  i am sure it is just hormone imbalance thing.. but one day you may want to become pregnant.. so it would be in your best interest to have this taken care of by then
