NovaSure

Why does it take three months to know how the NovaSure ablation will work for an individual? Still healing? Would there be any clues to the benefits/results sooner? I'm trying not to be discouraged.

I had the NovaSure procedure done over 3 years ago. I was 34 years old when I had our daughter (only child), & 2 years after having her, I started to have periods that were heavy, painful & LONG! Prior to gettinger pregnant,I had medium flow,3 day long periods with no PMS issues whatsoever (I'm also very physically active). After discussing my concerns with my OB & my Hubby, we all agreed the NovaSure was my best option since we did not want anymore children. My OBGYN thoroughly informed us from A to Z what the 90 second procedure entailed, side effects & potential complications. I read other comments on this site as well as other NovaSure communities that the procedure could be done in the office or hospital.  My procedure was done in the hospital. If anyone considering NovaSure is given a choice, please go to the hospital to have it done..
I will tell you my story: So the day of the surgery I was to report to the hospital by noon. By 1:00 I was in twilight sleep (love that place)! By 1:30, I started to come back to reality. The pain that will forever haunt me...I felt like I was giving birth to King Kong. I had a natural birth & I've had fibromyalgia for 8 years, so my tolerance to pain is higher than the normal person. I was given several doses of morphine through my IV & the pain wasn't letting up. Then they gave me something stronger & it worked a little. By 3:30 PM I was home in my bed resting very comfortably. Since that evening (over 3 years ago), I haven't experienced a single thing related to a period...until 6 months ago. I'm bloated 24/7 & I have the most offensive & horrible smelling discharge. Nothing will get rid of it. I've never had a yeast infection nor have I ever used deuche(?).We just moved a couple of months ago & our health insurance has changed,so I haven't seen a Dr yet. My Aunt is an RN & she had the NovaSure done 6 years ago & has had the offensive discharge for 6 years! The worst part is there are medications to treat it, but they aren't very effective & they cause yeast infections & other problems. Thankfully I'be been with my Hubby for 25 years & is very tolerable of the smell especially when we have sex (sometimes it is even stronger during sex). As soon as I can, I will get to Dr to see what the problem is. I know this is a long post, but if anyone is deciding to have the NovaSure procedure or not, I just wanted to tell you my story. I love not bleeding 20 out of 30 days a month or having to only buy pantiliners.  If I could go back, I would've made the same decision. Make sure if you decide to have an oblation, that you understand 100% what & how it will be done. And remember, there are no dumb questions.

I had the procedure 30 days ago. I finally stopped the discharge a week ago.  I got cramps the other day, but no bleeding. I'm thinking it worked.

My results were evident right away.  I've hardly had any bleeding at all for over a year now.  I suppose sometimes it can take a couple of months, though.
