Open sore on inside of labia majora

About a week ago I noticed a small opening in the skin right inside my labia majora (almost at the edge).  At first I thought that I probably nicked it while shaving, because I noticed it a few hours after I shaved.  I've been putting antibacterial ointment on it, but it does not seem to go away.  It's not bleeding, but it's red (exposed skin), it hurts when I urinate and wipe, it hurts when I wash with soap.  The pain (pulsing) usually lingers for a while and then goes away.  I forget about it until I urinate again.  It's not getting any bigger, but it does not seem to go away.  I also considered the possibility of an ingrown hair, but I don't see any hairs in the open sore.  I'm freaking out thinking that it might be herpes...  Does anybody have advice for me?  I would really appreciate it.  Thanks!!!
